The Devil's Rejects (2005)

Rob Zombie's gore-soaked sequel to the House of 1000 Corpses (2003) sees the sadistic Firefly family take their demented fun and games on the road. They're relentlessly chased by a cop who may be on the verge of insanity himself, thanks to a personal vendetta against the clan. All the hallmarks of Zombie's horror movies are here with plenty of surprise twists and top notch soundtrack as the main characters use all of their abilities of mind fuckery and deception to prolong their gruesome adventures. Some of the characters are re-cast with some of these changes in actors letting down the story slightly. Nonetheless, as a horror movie it works. Sheri Moon Zombie, Sid Haig, Bill Moseley, William Forsythe, Geoffrey Lewis, Priscilla Barnes and Leslie Easterbrook are among the main cast with memorable cameos from porn queen Ginger Lynn Allen and wrestling legend Diamond Dallas Page. 3.5 / 5

Sully - Miracle on the Hudson 7.5/10 - gripping true story starring Tom Hanks as "Sully" Sullenberger the pilot who landed a crippled passenger jet on the Hudson river. The film deals with both the landing and subsequent investigation into the cause.

Well worth watching.

Surrogates (2009) In a futuristic USA, humans rarely leave their house, living their life outside through robots known as surrogates. But then someone starts killing some surrogates. A scifi film brimming with good ideas and very good performances from Bruce Willis in two roles, also good chemistry with Radha Mitchell in their roles as surrogate cops. If the concept and ideas are sometimes better than parts of the plot and story line, there's still lot to enjoy in what I consider is an underrated movie, certainly worth catching again. Also starring Rosamund Pike, Ving Rhames( a fine cameo),Boris Kodjoe,James Cromwell Jack Noseworthy & Devin Ratray. 7.5/10

Wonder Woman

Been a fan of the character ever since I was kid starting from the comics, the tv series with Lynda Carter and of course the JLA animated series and animated movies.
The big screen finally does her character Justice Gal Gadot was perfectly cast as Wonder Woman not only does she look the part but also acts part, when she was first cast I was 100 percent behind where a lot of critics were against it. The two younger actresses that were cast as the younger Wonder Woman were perfectly cast too.
Chris Pine was great and cast perfectly as Steve Trevor you truly believed him as a character and acted as a perfect foil to Gal Gadot and chemistry between the two was fantastic too. Also the film had the right blend of humour & action.
The supporting cast with Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta, Robin Wright as Antiope was great never seen her in a action role before but she was great, Lucy Davis as Etta Candy, Saïd Taghmaoui as Sameer, Ewen Bremner as Charlie, Eugene Brave Rock as The Chief, David Thewlis as Sir Patrick, boxer Ann Wolfe as Artemis all great.
What I liked with the film was they used a simple nothing complex which worked perfectly also the photography in this film is stunning especially when there on the island it's all bright and beautiful but the transition from the island to London is very different perfectly showing harshness of World War 1. Right from the start to the finish of the influence of Richard Donners 'Superman The Movie' which director Patty Jenkins was massive fan of the movie.
I also liked how Wonder Woman was a fish out of water when she was London and aboard she has this honest, love And innocence but certain events open her eyes to reality of how the world really is the film really strikes home with current events in this world. The film is was very good at playing up emotions again without spoiling some of it was thought provoking you kinda understand why her character is so different by Batman v Superman timeline.
I thought the villains were good nothing striking about them Elena Anaya as Dr Maru/Dr Poison was fucking creepy, Danny Huston as Ludendorff was very good and good performance from Huston, there is another twist but I won't spoil that but if you know the comics especially the DC 52 and DC Rebirth is a big influence.
I loved the fight scenes which were fucking Awesome she could Superman a run for his money that's all I can say, the special effects were great. The romance was done just right not down your throat, the sound track was great and went well with the different scenes. There's a loads of Easter Eggs in the film too which was a real treat.
Overall really this film it felt different and refreshing and it was great seeing a big female character such as Wonder Woman done right.

9.6+/10.

Quadrophenia(1979) Based on the 1965 'mods and rockers' fights in Brighton, Phil Daniels skilfully plays a fairly complex role as a mod which develops and becomes more complicated as the film progresses. There is a realistic feel to the dialogue, performances and the violence which overcomes the sometimes rambling plot line. The soundtrack, mostly comprising The Who songs is excellent. A host of familiar faces, many at the start of their careers appear, including Phil Davis, Sting, Mark Wingett, Leslie Ash, Ray Winstone and Toyah Willcox. Also starring Michael Elphick and Kate Williams. 7/10

Open Grave(2013) A man wakes up in a pit of dead bodies, neither knowing how he got there or his name. Initially intriguing and reasonably well acted, this is a rather dull and uninvolving movie, reminding you of better post apocalyptic films and also such horror films as Wrong Turn, this film feeling derivative of those. Sharlto Copley is wasted in this role. Also starring Thomas Kretschmann,Josie Ho,Joseph Morgan, Erin Richards & Max Wrottesley. 4.5/10

wonder woman it was the dc film of the new films. the story line was very similar to the first captain America film.

the mummy was very disappointing, it didn't know what sort of film it was trying to be. not enough horror to be a horror, it didn't work as an action film either

(04-06-2017 00:15 )greenray Wrote:  Predestination(2014) The story of a 'temporal agent' played by Ethan Hawke who travels through time to prevent crimes. A film that sets itself nicely in the first half or so helped by a typically good performance from Hawke and a remarkable one from Sarah Snook. The back end of the film, however, is less than satisfactory, although clever, is rather confusing with a rather flat ending. Also starring Noah Taylor. 6.5/10

Finally got around to watching it last night. I agree the performances from the 2 main characters was very good, found it a little to obvious to be honest.
