We Are Still Here (2015) Barbara Crampton and Andrew Sensenig star as a couple who, recuperating, from the shock death of their son, decide to move to a new house in a new town, then things start to happen... So far, so predictable, but it turns out, despite the odd plot illogicality, to be an effective movie, with shocks early on and gore later. The 'supernatural/spirit beings' are a neat design and the special effects are pretty good, and it has a bit of an emotional kick too. Also starring Monte Markham,Lisa Marie,Larry Fessenden,Guy Gane and Connie Neer. 6/10

Need For Speed

A decent film with great cars and stunt sequences what let the film down was the plot and it lacked fun compared to the Fast and Furious films. In places it did feel like the video game. Forgot I had it as steel book lol.

6.5/10.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit?(1988)

Alrough the style of animation mixed with live action dates it as a piece of work very much of its time, this is still seamless entertainment with a brilliant lead showing from Bob Hoskins and outstanding voice work from Kathleen Turner and Charles Fliescher. The film also became a subversive influence on directors who have made films that riff on established characters ever since.

Malena (2000)

Italian drama set in a sleepy town during World War 2. A beautiful woman (Monica Bellucci) is the talk of the town. Her soldier husband is away fighting the Allies and her striking looks incite lustful feelings from all the town's men. Unfortunately she is also subject to malicious gossip and jealous hatred from the women. Her youngest admirer is a 12 year old boy (Giuseppe Sulfaro) who tries to "help" her wherever he can. It's a sad tale about a boy coming of age and a woman punished for her looks which some may find difficult to engage with. There is a particular scene which many may find distressing - and this shocking moment does seem out of context with the rest of the film's mood. It does however have strong performances from the leads and features an excellent piece of music. 3/5

A Free Bird(2014) A slacker(Russell Durham Comegys) loses his job at the steakhouse and with three friends decides to rob that steakhouse. A Southern US comedy unfortunately short on laughs and padded out with swearing, though it improves in the latter part of the film. It might have worked better as a crime drama. Comegys and leading lady Karen-Eileen Gordon put in reasonable performances. Also starring George Faughnan(annoying),Stan Houston,Marla Malcolm, Ted J McMahan & Leslie Sharp. 4.5/10

Persona(1966)

A brilliant psychological vampire film from director Ingmar Bergman about a mute actress who lives in a coastal summerhouse with her nurse and usurps the other women's personality and reduces her to a babbling, incoherent wreck. Stunningly framed with amazing acting from Liv Ullman and Bibi Andersson.
