Night of the Lepus[aka The Rabbits](1972)
A silly film directed by William F.Clacton based on the 1964 novel by Russell Braddon.A small town in the Arizona desert is besieged by giant rabbits that have been exposed to a hornome experiment in order to control their prolific breeding.Yes its just as stupid as it sounds and the effects are truly terrible,as is the acting.

McCabe & Mrs.Miller(1971)
A Robert Altmann anit-western starring Warren Beatty as a brothel owner and Julie Christie as its madam, set in Vancouver the visual mood is all smoke and sepia with the director using his trademark atmosphere over action technique to great effect. The soundtrack from Leonard Cohen is a perfect fit also making this one well worth the effort.

Alias Nick Beal(1949)
Another retelling of the Faust story this time directed by John Farrow, set in the world of politics in a film noir/mystery style and starring Ray Milland.Who put in a superb turn as Nick Beal, the suave and sinister Mephistopheles trying to tempt Thomas Mitchell to the dark side in exchange for his soul.

Viva Zapata(1952)
Directed by Elia Kazan, this strong effort tells the fictionalised story of the Mexican rebel Emiliano Zapata who led an uprising against the cruel dictator Porfirio Diaz.Lavishly filmed with good performances from Marlon Brando and Anthony Quinn.

The Great Houdini(1976)
A decent TV movie that quickly went through the legendary escape artists' glory years before focusing on his obsession with the occult following the death of his mother.A bit cheap looking but Paul Michael Glaser was very good as the man himself alongside Sally Struthers as his wife Bess.
