RE: Supergirl
3.15 Well, a good balance of plot and counter-plot, with Jonn's father's illness getting out of control, and Lena the good doctor. The former was more straightforward, and a plausible excuse for some "Kara tells her true feelings etc" stuff. The latter walked a very fine line, especially with James badgering Lena like "what's your big secret?" The irony of course that Lena has been kept away from the DEO at all costs, but she made the breakthrough of Reign's identity that they couldn't.
Rather naff FX with Mon-El flying at the end, and more dubious biblical overtones, but I guess that's more a matter for the next episode.

RE: Supergirl
3.16 And so to a bit of actual drama, the dropping of Brainiac's make-up job, and the disappearance again of Jonn's dad (Ruby having skipped a few).
The problem of having 3 baddies is that the introduction of the latter 2 has been kept almost to a ludicrous minimum, and given that Pestilence here has such devastating effects, it seems too convenient that she just switched on as a baddy last week. Also making the inferior 2 baddies of non-Caucasian casting is, like, so 20th century, dudes.
I did like the red herring of the first suspect turning out to be innocent, but the tumult of Sam's split personality chats with Reign were presumably dreamt up by some dimwit who liked the similar antics of Superman III, but felt that rather than resolve matters with an existential fight, it was more fun to just argue in a forest.
Anyway, only 6 episodes to go.

RE: Supergirl
3.17 Oh great, more arguing in forests.
Shouldn't carp, I guess, probably one of the busiest episodes I can recall, with spooky mind-trips, lunar shifts, the presumed cancellation of two contracts, and a false ending (come on, how thick would they have to be to think the Blight was resolved?). Given I didn't rate either the Purity or Pestilence characters (to be fair, the latter had no time to be developed and was superfluous anyway), I can't cry that they've got the elbow. Ruby is looking pivotal, as even I could tell weeks and weeks ago.
It's nicely done that James has no/few qualms about telling Lena his secret as Guardian, whereas Supergirl won't let on her identity (although if Lena can't tell, that's her look-out, some brainbox she is). James consequently learns more than Kara does.
