RE: Memories of Childhood
Growl! Yeah not half, no-one slept whilst she was on screen. Heather Locklear was gorgeous in Dynasty, she was a little cracker of a blonde and certainly caught my attention every time she appeared-what a dream she was(and I don't mean that kind of dream ) she was very good on TJHooker as well alongside syrup-wearing William Shatner and the strangely named Adrian Zmed!
**Thinks, this could be another scathingly brilliant idea for a thread?**

RE: Memories of Childhood
With the sad news of the loss of another member of the Monkees, Peter Tork I remember watching that mad series on the BBC. It was crazy being the 60's(I watched in the 70's) and my favourite things were the Monkeemobile and when they became super heroes. I also quote one line when they meet an American movie mogul called Robroy Fingerhead - they turn to each other and mouth his name-my mum and I do that when we don't understand something. Did you watch this series? Or maybe you had some of their records like Pleasant Valley Sunday, Last Train to Clarkesville or Daydream Believer w/ Davy Jones.

RE: Memories of Childhood
Shari Lewis was a brilliant puppeteer and ventriloquist but she was also very sexy which appealed to me as a callow youth.

RE: Memories of Childhood
Speaking of ventriloquists one of the very best was Ray Allen with Lord Charles ( ha ha you silly arse!) but he was also very good at impressions which was put to good use on The Impressionists. This was broadcast on radio 2 and was a comedy panel show with other impressionists like Johnny More, Aidan J Harvey and the genius Peter Cartright(who had impersonated Tony Hancock on radio) some well known voices were heard including the ubiquitous Frank Spencer, Frank Sinatra, Capt Mainwaring and others. Somewhere upstairs I have an ancient tape recording with one of the team doing a spot on Michael Parkinson. As a child I remember Terry Hall who had a friendly Lion called Lenny ("I'm learning to read") and there was one other who had his own show Bodger and Badger, Andy Cunningham but wasn't very good, you could see his lips move.

RE: Memories of Childhood
Ah now here is a thing-did any of you go to the following:
1) A Disney or other sort of On Ice show?
2) A Pantomime?
3) A Circus?
4) A Fair or fete?
5) Sporting event other than football?
My answers to those are
1) I went to see Dick Whittington on Ice with a group of Brownies(as my Mum was a leader of a pack as Cherry Owl) which was quite an experience.
2) Never went to a pantomime, 3) or a circus, I think I felt that performing animals were being asked to do things alien to them.
4) I did go to a local fair one day with my Mum and Sister but I forgot that you put your foot on the start pedal of a bumper car and not your hand, so I ended up with a sore chin as it shot forward and pushed me onto the hard, wooden wheel(still don't know why I did it to this day!) but I did get to taste candy floss for the first time.
5) Sporting events ranged from the Daily Mirror Gymnastics shows each November thanks to my Dad's contacts where I met the late David Vine, one football match, the 1985 Milk Cup final with Norwich and Sunderland at Wembley sitting with a friend of mine in the Norwegian press box(again all down to my Dad), Show Jumping from Chepstow, Five-A-Side Football tournament in late 70's at Empire Pool, Wembley, organised by the Met Police and many, many Athletics meetings at Crystal Palace(another one was in Wales) which were always great fun.
