Never understood why Blankety Blank had to have that (very slow!) rotating set - what was the point ?laugh
And who can forget Kenny Everett stealing Sir Terence's of Wogan silly "wand" microphone off him and bending it in two ?
What would the unsuccessful contestants receive now as a consolation prize ?
Most of them wouldn't know what the hell a chequebook and pen is supposed to be.
I guess you could have a replica mobile with a Quick Quid logo engraved on the pretend screen or summat.

I always used to like Les Dawson saying "let's see what can be gleaned tonight from the contents of a recent fire sale" Big Grin I think it was just a device to maybe give the man inside a chance to change the word cards. Oh yes that Kenny Everett grabbing his long microphone "GOT IT!" was hilarious - the look on Wogan's face was a picture, but he and Kenny were old friends so he was probably ready for something unpredictable. Contestants don't get any consolation prizes these days, not even a Crackerjack pencil. In 3-2-1 they used to get a brand new dustbin, but later inside Dusty Bin might be a small portable television, so they never actually went home with nothing and don't forget they used to get ceramic Dusty Bin's as well. In the Spanish version Un Dos Trés they would have STRIPPERS!!

"Life is the name of the game, and I want to play the game with you" so sang Bruce Forsyth in the opening titles of his show The Generation Game which as you know spawned countless catchphrases like "Didn't he/she do well?", "good game, good game!" and "nice to see you, to see you..."(at which the audience would shout "NICE!" Of course most of us younger lads fancied Anthea Redfern rotten but then she was a hot blonde beauty, who wasn't always that clever. Contestants played silly games or had some craft they had to master and then they had to memorise all the prizes to be won on a conveyor belt within 90 seconds. When Bruce left it was taken over by camp comedian Larry Grayson, who bought his own inimitable style to the show and the lovely assistant Isla St Clair. When he left the show died...only to be resurrected by one of its biggest fans, Jim Davidson, who prompt put his own spin on it and had several girls to help including page 3 girl (and his girlfriend) Deborah(Debbie) Corrigan.
Here though is the original, the master of game shows himself.

Biggest mistake Bruce Forsyth ever made was moving to ITV to do that ‘Big Night’ show. The fact that it was a flop was bad enough, but the fact that it was getting thrashed in the ratings by Larry Grayson’s Generation Game (which was getting up to 25 million viewers) was something that irked Bruce big time.

3-2-1 gave rise to people trying to do that 3-2-1 thing that Ted Rogers did, I was certainly one of them...and got closer to getting my fingers in a knot than managing to do it...
