This is a job for International Rescue!!!!
(Well ShandyHand anyway!)
So we've had a big development and I'd like to ask a few questions/make a few remarks. Sorry, I didn't see Evelyn's show.
1. Terminology.
Although it was billed, even by the broadcaster as 'Webcam' or 'Backstage' in fact it turned out (from my perspective) just the same as normal. I watched on S66's website as usual, I didn't have to log on, use a password, sign up, join up, pay a subscription, confirm my age (yet) or anything and the picture was just the same. The only difference was that (I presume) Fernanda was not seen by Sky viewers meaning that that her performance need not be regulated by Ofcom and she could be freer. She was obviously pleased by that and remarked on the mic: ''No Ofcom. Fuck them''.
I did wonder whether anyone might have not tuned in because they might have thought that the show would have required a subscription or something and would suggest that the broadcaster will need to invent a branding to differentiate between a web show that can alternatively be watched on Sky from a show that can't. They use the terminology 'Studio Cam' in their guide and then there's 'Cam' meaning 'PerveCam' too.
All told it's a mess. Fortunately our Admin made the sensible decision to not create a separate category for our discussions. They should put him in charge!
2. Reception.
In the Firestorm chatroom several viewers moaned about reception, although one was chancing his arm with a mobile. I had previously ensured mine by using wifi rather than regular internet, using Google Chrome and ensuring all updates are done so my picture remained perfect despite being in the countryside. However I did find it logged on slowly, A pulsing bar proclaimed 'Connected' without a picture.
When Fernanda went on a break a notice advised instead that she was backstage and if they closed down her stream they took ages getting it going again.
Fernsboy reported that the TV/phone delay was as long as three minutes whereas I'd encountered ten seconds or so when speaking to Fernanda before. In the chatroom he reported that Fernanda had told him this had to do with Ofcom so perhaps they still have some role.
There was no music, It seemed that the sound channel was left on Fernanda's microphone so that might avoid occasions where we've missed her announcements.
I noticed that she was billed to start at 11.00. After half an hour GalleryS66 posted that Fernanda would appear in a few minutes but she didn't until 11.45 shortly after Fernsboy asked about her stream in the chatroom. Accordingly we presumably missed what would have been an especially interesting introduction.
I'd be interested to learn what Sky viewers did see, presumably not an advert to see Fernanda on the website.
3. Censorship.
All told Fernanda's show remained very tame, It wasn't even topless. Compare this to everything else on the internet or that Naked Attraction thing or the horrors on any news program. Fernanda said on the mic that she wanted it like that and I certainly agree, it could be any girls pussy. I wondered whether there remains any censorship that the broadcaster has to observe with a non TV show? Presumably there remains the need to differentiate from the material shown behind a paywall such as Studio Cam, Pervecam or on Fernanda's website.
4. Future shows.
Studio 66's producers like it:
Why haven't they done this before?
Whose idea was it?
Has Fernanda been paid more?
Would I be right in thinking that Studio 66 earn money by selling their feed to Sky (And possibly other TV broadcasters)?
Would I be right in thinking that not selling Sky Fernanda today cost them money?
Might they have further lost by having to pay another presenter to ensure that three channels were made available?
Did they have to negotiate with Sky?'Sorry guys we're not giving you our star turn'.
Would they have lost because of the engineering required? Fernanda mentioned the name Jermaine. Would he have had to operate more equipment to ensure that the other streams went to Sky but that Fernanda's didn't?
Was that conducive to the especially late start?
How will Fernanda feel on Wednesday? Suppose they tell her that they want/have to sell her stream to Sky and that she'll have to behave herself; censorship and all?
Who'll do a non TV show next...Sophia Lares is on later this week?
Could all of Studio 66's daytime shows be like this? As of Monday morning? Would we want that? Have they let the genie out of the bottle?
How will this effect the night time shows. Already not S66's strong suit, Will they need to be stronger? Will that require them to recruit presenters who are more happy to get 'em out?
How will BS react?
What will Ofcom be thinking?
All very interesting, what do you guys think?
