We interrupt this thread to sadly report that due to unfortunate technical difficulties, an instance of factual inaccuracy has been discovered in a previous entry to this thread, in what can only be described in these days of "post-truth" and "alternative facts" as a "non-sinister unintentional cock-up" resulting from a frankly unacceptably woeful and lax confusion of the word "April" with the word "May" :
(23-04-2019 20:01 )M-L-L Wrote: On This Day 23rd May:
1618 The Second Defenestration of Prague: two Catholic Lords Regent and their secretary are thrown out of a window and amazingly are not seriously injured by the 70 foot (21 metre) fall. The event triggers the Thirty Year War.
2015 Both Lori Buckby and Maddie Rose are on telephone duty in the BS studio....it's not recorded if any BS viewers were breaking their windows (or TV screens) as a result.
Astute historians will have no doubt noticed, and tactfully refrained from pointing out, that said events referred to above took place in May, and not in April, and may have even charitably assumed that the use of the word "May" in bold within the heading in the context of a page of other posts containing the word "April" in their headings was but a simple typographical error. Would that this had been the case, but it turns out the whole content of the post and not just the heading was a month in error.
Be assured however that no devious manipulation of your historical records were intended by this lapse, and it was not done for any political, financial gain or benefit in kind, nor any other such motivations.
This thread would like to apologies for any confusion this may have caused.
Therefore:
On this Day one month ago 23rd April:
1516 The German Beer Purity Law (Reinheitsgebot) is enforced across all of Bavaria by Wilhelm IV, Duke of Bavaria, stating that beer should only be brewed from three ingredients - water, malt and hops.
2016 The forum BSX Purity Campaigners were in full ferment in the early months of the year at the recently instituted practices of the channel, with its weekend "rolling" rosters seemingly containing a high proportion of "no-show"
phone-waving babes from the normal night-time shows also appearing in front of the BSX garage shutter in an endless parade throughout the pay-per-view shows.
Squeezing into the small hours of the 23rd from a start time in the evening of the 22nd was Beth and Jess West, always a popular pairing, so I'll just confound expectations by the inclusion of an image of Beth completely obscuring the camera with her underwear...
the 23rd proper saw a triumphant triumvirate of Amelia, Leigh and of course, Lori...
But to return once more to the present and so for the second time lucky....
On This Day 23rd May:
1618 The Second Defenestration of Prague: two Catholic Lords Regent and their secretary are thrown out of a window and amazingly are not seriously injured by the 70 foot (21 metre) fall. The event triggers the Thirty Year War.
And since we've already had that nugget of fact a month early due to the previous unfortunate mix-up referred to earlier, it's worth recording another appropriate milestone to suitably honour the day :
1785 US founding father Benjamin Franklin announces his invention of bifocals, something the O.P. of this thread clearly requires.....
230 years later no doubt BS viewers both short-sighted and with 20/20 vision were breaking screens throughout the land at the prospect of not only Lori Buckby as we already established a month too early, but also Preeti & Maddie appearing on both the regular and BSX shows....
