The Frank Kilbride Show - a tribute he did to Brendan Grace, where he chatted to the guy, showed some of his singing, and a couple of his comic routines. Apparently, when Frank was playing golf on Hawaii or somewhere, he bumped into both Evel Knievel and Frank Sinatra on separate occasions, and both of whom asked about Brendan.

Taskmaster Series 9 grand final.

It was alright. David Baddiel's been quite good value this year as the contestant in the traditional sad-old-git-out-of-his-element role.
Jo Brand also amusing but perhaps pushed the "just can't be arsed" card just a little too far beyond the point of parody on some occasions ?
The youngsters, well - Ed Gamble I found annoying, but I think that's his style.
Rose & Katy, fine, certainly not as humourlessly competitive as Katherine Ryan.
(A teeny bit ironical that now they've finally tipped the balance of contestants to have more females than male, that for the first time in a while a female didn't win the series? Controversial. Where can they go with this to achieve complete parity of numbers, unless either Greg Davis or Alex Horne change gender? Taskmistress ?)

Is it as good as the glory days of the Joe Wilkinson potato-throwing-into-the-golf-ball-hole-gate, or Dave Gorman cheating multiple times, or Al Murray just spending his way out of tasks ?
Probably not imho.
Is that the fault of the contestants though, or the tasks seeming to be a bit lacklustre, or just repetitive format strain ?
Probably just this viewer's jaded palate, in fairness I can't remember the last time I bothered watching 9 series of anything.

Dave Gorman's Terms & Conditions ? Too early to call.
It seems an uneasy mix of his lecture-style stand-up and a panelshow.
The set-ups and explaining the concepts of the "quiz" sections to the guests seem to take too long - feels a bit like the very earliest QI series where Stephen Fry used to declaim too much to the camera in between the questions.
Once it gets past that though some things work - Catphrase, but he's done that before. Tossing toilet brushes as a competive sport - yeah OK quite good, but feels a bit Taskmaster-y ?

Gave it another go, and although still not as good as it could be, I get it now. It's history with extreme creative licence, full of magic, nonsense and actual comedic moments. I watched the first season last week, I'm currently half way through the second. I think I was being a snob due to Rome and GOT, but if you give it a chance and don't take it seriously, it's actually fun, stupid at times, but fun.

Season 2 of Britannia has now started Skully last night. You can download all of it if you have sky catchup/on demand.

I’m currently on s1 & really enjoying it and have already downloaded s2

As I said in my post, already halfway through the second season, stopping for now at episode 7.

Cheltenham Literature Festival (yes, still)
Peter Hennessey plugs his new book by chatting to Chris Patten in a London flat, which was presumably just shown on a big screen at Chelters. Lovely "two old sweats" stuff about the politics of 60 years back & more.
