Le Mans 66

An excellent film based on the true story of how Ford ended Ferrari’s domination of the Le Mans 24hrs race. Christian Bale & Matt Damon are excellent as Ken Miles & Carroll Shelby who created the iconic Ford GT40

9/10

Charlie’s Angels (2019)

The 3rd Film in the Charlie’s Angels franchise which is nowhere near as bad as critics & social media is saying it is. It’s a fun & very entertaining film like the previous 2 films

It’s not a reboot as the trailers & marketing has suggested. It’s a sequel which follows on & references the first two films throughout.

Naomi Scott, Kirsten Stewart & Ella Balinska are really good as the new angels Elena, Sabina & Jane and the rest of the cast play their part in moving the story along, especially Patrick Stewart & Elizabeth Banks (who also directed)

There’s some fun mid credit scenes with some brilliant celebrity cameos

8/10

I think this is the first time I have watched this film when 2015 was history and not the future.

It seems they got a lot of things wrong. No flying taxis or self tying shoes, but at least we have flat screen UHD TV unlike the CRT models shown in the film.

9/10

...and of course the 80s nostalgia cafe with robotic avatars of Ronald Reagan and Ayatollah Khomeini, the high streets are littered with those, one on every corner, they're absolutely shitting all over Costa and Starbucks and Cafe Nero. Which is actually the more evil though I wonder....

Re-watched the Justice League - I feel sure there is a second of these coming soon but maybe not with Ben Affleck as Batman? Looking forward to Christmas on SKY Movies as Avengers-Endgame is being shown and I finally get to complete the trilogy of films made.

Knives Out 5/10 - an ok watch with one or two funny lines and a predictable twist but nothing special.

RE: Last film you watched
Watched a few films in the past week, catching up with some I've been wanting to see.

Angel Has Fallen - all the shooting and explosions you could wish for, I enjoyed it, but couldn't help thinking would Gerard Butler have put that much effort in if Trump was the president?

The Irishman - slow paced (lasts 3 1/2 hours), I suppose you'd call it a character study. It's got the big names De Niro, Pacino, Pesci back together, which gives it a bit of clout. Good enough, and it has a few subtley ridiculous moments.

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood - this goes on a bit too, not sure it really needed to be so long, but it pays off in the last 20 minutes or so. Quite a clever take on the story you thought you were expecting.

A Serbian Film - was intrigued to see what the fuss was about and it certainly was a hard watch. You go through it dreading to think where they are going to go with it next, and it took a while to get over it, how did they get away with making that? I read there were 4 minutes removed to get the certificate, and after watching it I don't want to know what was in those 4 minutes!

Life And Death Of A Porno Gang - Another Serbian one. I discovered this while looking up reviews for the previous one, so was slightly nervous to watch it but it was light relief in comparison. A struggling film maker finds that putting on live sex shows doesn't pay the bills and gets sucked into the world of snuff films. Not as grim as it sounds although there was one truly nasty scene with a razor that I couldn't look at. Something different.

One more I want to see is The Joker but I haven't found a copy online yet.

Charlie's Angels (2019) - 1/10 the worst film i have seen this year, what on earth were they thinking when they cast this reboot? kristen stewart is one of the most talentless and unattractive actresses ever and the other two aren't much better. The film itself is just awful, an action film where there is hardly any action and the so-called humour fall flat. Its poor box office and bad reviews are well deserved, how anybody can rate this film above a 2 is just unbelievable.

Elizabeth Banks hang your head in shame.
