The Goonies

Classic movie and there’s a Gremlins and Superman The Movie reference.

San Andreas

Decent story and a great cast but the problem is it’s very predictable and can be very cheesy and corny. Overall all am decent film.

Edge of Tomorrow.

Passes the time.
Same basic flaw as Groundhog Day - it is simply not believable you could cram that much into a single day, even living it over and over.

Mission Impossible : Fallout.

Quite a ride! Non stop action and plot twists. Even, dare I say it, better than Bond eek

If they can maintain this standard, I hope they can make a few more before Cruise is past-it.

Strange thing about that film, Henry Cavil is much taller than Tom Cruise yet he appears virtually the same size in that film. I remember seeing this at the cinema and it is quite a rush for stunts and special effects. Cruise broke his ankle doing a jump in that film and it was delayed whilst he recovered.

To Live and Die in L.A. (1985)

Two cops are on the trail of a counterfeiting criminal who also killed another cop and they vow to stop him at all costs. A strange film, and not just because this being made 35 years ago makes it look quite dated now. Whilst the dialogue is mostly kept to a minimum, when the characters speak the lines come across as corny with wooden acting and (perhaps ?) unintentionally gay jokes. The action scenes whilst probably impressive at the time still seem lame for a crime movie, especially by today's standards and many big name actors of then in the cast are chronically underused. There's a good twist at the end of the film with the worrying, by the book good cop becoming an on the edge rogue and the soundtrack by iconic 80s band Wang Chung is memorable. However, by that time I'd pretty much stopped caring. William Petersen, John Panknow, Willem Dafoe and Darlanne Fuegel star in a film that I borrowed the dvd of from a friend and finally got round to watching after having it for about five months. I wished I hadn't bothered. Rolleyes 1.5 / 5
