RE: Last film you watched
Sky+ recording 'Mary Poppins Returns'(2018) When this was first announced I immediately said it was a mistake, to wait so long for a sequel and that it just wouldn't be the same as the original made all those years ago-how wrong I was and delightfully so. Emily Blunt is superb as Mary Poppins and Lin-Manuel Miranda who I had never seen nor heard of before was very good, even down to his fake cockney accent, which wasn't half as grating as Dick van Dyke's Bert. Julie Walters as Ellen(Mrs Bird to Ben Whishaw's Paddington) Colin Firth made a pleasing pantomime villain, Meryl Streep as a Russian shop owner(Mary's cousin Topsy)and David Warner was very good as the Admiral. Speaking of Dick van Dyke he himself appeared in a short song and dance routine that belied his 90+ years and a cameo role for the original Jane Banks, Karen Dotrice as 'Elegant Lady' Also veteran actress and Murder, She Wrote's Angela Lansbury appeared as a balloon seller and sang at the end. The three child stars, one of which Joel Dawson(he was introduced) was very good, and the others Nathaniel Saleh and Pixie Davies(who was in sci-fi drama Humans) were all very good.

The song and dance numbers(cartoon and live action)were spot on (even Ben Whishaw as Michael did well and I didn't know he could sing!) and even the animation worked well along with some brilliant special effects that was sure to have kid/adult appeal. A tour-de-force of a Disney film which paid homage to the original but stamped its own personality on it. Great songs, a terrific cast and even a bit of poignancy, this is one film I thoroughly recommend if you're a bit fed up or have kids. 10/10 Smile

The Blues Brothers Extended Edition

Classic movie and a masterpiece not only really funny but the music in the movie is simply fantastic. Carrie Fisher was hot in this movie and the Steven Spielberg cameo.

Frozen 2 - 7/10. A solid, enjoyable film with a bit of everything, humour, sadness etc.
Aladdin - 8/10. Thought it would be shit, turns out that it was a lot of fun, I really enjoyed it.
Jojo Rabbit - 7/10. A bit weird, because well, you know, but an interesting take on things and worth a watch.

Dr. Mabuse the Gambler Fritz Lang 1922

Ranked 632nd in the TSPDT 1,000 Greatest Films.

Set in the early years of the deacadent Weimar Republic the film follows state prosecutor von Wenk as he attempts to outwit and track down the titular criminal mastermind, a psychopath with hypnotic powers.
Surprisingly enjoyable for a 98 year old German silent film lasting four and a half hours.

Superman Red Son.
What if Superman was raised in the Soviet Union rather than America. Based on Mark Millar's 2003 mini series.
8/10
