Springwatch 2019 Episode 1

Set in Glen Feshie in the Cairngorms National Park.

The secret to enjoying the "watch" broadcasts is to record them and fast forward through the tedious banter of the presenters, particularly Chris Packham who amazingly is even more of an annoying muffin than Bill Oddie.

Highlights of the first 90 minute episode included a segment on the migration of the cuckoo. The birds are fitted with satellite trackers which show that they spend the winter in the Congo, then fly to West Africa to fatten up on the termite swarms before making the trip back across the Sahara to Britain in the Spring. One of these birds has made the round trip three times and flown 45,000 miles in total.

One of the iconic Cairngorm birds is the Capercaillie, the largest member of the Grouse family. The population of this impressive beast has declined to just over a thousand from about twenty thousand over the last half century. Habitat loss is mentioned as one of the causes of the decline but not the increase in the population of predators such as the Pine Marten as this wouldn't fit comfortably into their ecofanatic agenda.

"Famous Grouse... I don't recognise him... was he a water skier or something?" Tongue

Oddie at least had a rock career, more than Packham.

It's a good point - anybody who can write a song lyric like:
"when she starts to dance she shimmies like a plate of tripe (and cowheels, tripe and cowheels)" from Black Pudding Bertha, can't be all bad.

Doctor Who Ep 6 “Praxeus“ Season 12

The biggest problem with the season is convenient things keep happening.

Into the Brecon region, with Gareth catching fish with Tiggy Legge-Bourke, and his wife cooking welsh rarebit because he hates cheese.
