They went to a couple of canals which are in stages of restoration around Swansea and Neath. Gareth was clearly having a head-trip about seeing Neath from a new angle, having been so familiar with it for so many years.
Overall, a lovely series in that "old couples do canals" genre.

Another 90 minute episode which would have been an hour long if they had cut out all the drivelmongering from the presenters.

There was the usual smorgasbord of live cams from birds nests including the Coal tit, Pied wagtail and Golden eagle. As they were in the Scottish highlands Pine martens were also featured and they also looked at the Brook lampreys in Loch Ness.

The most interesting part was the feature on the Brown trout in Loch Laidon on Rannoch Moor. The biologists have show that in the ten thousand or so years since the last ice age this population has diverged into four ecotypes. This is thought to be an example of evolution in action and the deep water morph is already thought to be a seperate species.
