PPV has been in the pipeline for a long time. It's been coming for years, even if people such as yourself have only just realised it.
England PPV has not been in the pipeline, sure club games (well they have been, look at premplus), but it would cause a huge outrage if England matches were all PPV, the sort of shit where the PM would get involved to appear popular even though they never watch any footy (I am talking about any PM, future, past or present, you know it to be true). And public backlash would mean the games are never going to be PPV, Sky were banned from buying all the rights to England games because not all of the public can watch the games if they own them. So this will not happen. Or it will but with repercussions.
You're not for this world, this world is for you.

well as ppv on sky has been around for aslong as i have subscribed it is obviously not a new invention einstein. ppv is for 'events' like boxing or wrestling. it was not supposed to be used for games like england matches. that will be changed no doubt because of the ridiculous buy rate.

I'm afraid you haven't thought this out properly. Rights to away matches are the property of the home country and the FA or the PM cannot dictate who they are sold to, regardless of any public backlash. It follows that England PPV is on the way whether you like it or not and the only way it could be stopped is if the FA decided to buy all the rights to England away matches and then re-sell them to non-PPV broadcasters, even if it meant the FA making considerable losses. So far the FA have said that they aren't going to do this.

to be fair with premplus, u knew wot u were getting cos it was skysport's coverage. It was quality coverage with decent analysis, not 4m setanta's numpties.
Having said that, i heard, james richardson, who's 1 of the best football presenters in the country, felt conversations with sven was like pulling teeth! So 4.99 or 12, for that? not worth it. then again at that price for that game, not worth it under any circumstances.
But the main argument its an England game, not a club game. It shud b accessible to every1, personally i think it should be broadcasted on terrestrial tv as it is a national game. But FA r money grubbing whores, lookin to rip off those who watch the game instead of makin it accessible to every1 via terrestrial tv
Also in regards to the rights, the away games rights have to be bought by a broadcaster, and depending on who it is, it comes on their channel. In this case it was Setanta who ended up goin bust which why the rights were up 4 sale. The only reason this game was on PPV was because it was a "pointless" game which none of the broadcasters wanted to pay over the odds 4, but come the bidding rights for the next lot of away games, sky or espn will probably outbid that internet company because they'll want it more than they wanted this game, but we'l c wot the future holds
the greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist
