This "dementia" that you speak of seems to me like a guy with a bit of a speech impediment gamely fighting against it.
More generally, I don't think either of them 'won'. As a piece of performance art it was riveting. As a presidential debate among two guys vying to lead the world's most powerful country, it was a hot mess.
That said, I think Biden 'lost' much less than Trump who came across as a petulant child.
It won't change anyone's mind. But Biden has a strong lead -- he's not the one who has to change the race. I can't imagine that Trump picked up any new voters yesterday and time is ticking away ....

It's not really poor speech, he has shown many moments where he struggles to remember a point he was going to make. He comes out with the most bizarre phrases that have nothing to do with the topic at hand in interviews. It's all documented on youtube, just like his creepiness with young girls. Although his seeming decline in cognitive abilities wasn't quite as bad last night as in many other instances. He lucked out from suffering undisputedly the biggest humiliation in debate history.
And Jesus fucking Christ, I thought we might've learned to take polls with a pinch of salt after 2016, on both sides of the Atlantic. The mainstream media didn't account for the voters in the rust belt and broader working class communities who come out in droves for Trump. They had an inner contempt for them. And then when the 2016 result happened, the leftist media acted 'shocked', as if to wonder how on earth did this happen? Only this time it's not going to be just working class voters who will defend their guy once again, disaffected middle class voters will come out for Trump too. Americans for all the mockery they receive from snobbish Brits and Europeans, have a fairly long memory and are a smart bunch. They didn't forgive the Clintons for NAFTA and they're not going to forgive the Democrat/'squad' sponsored violence that erupted in the cities across the country. I suspect a large number of middle class/small business owning voters in big cities will look at the antifa/BLM violence that is sponsored by big league Democrats like Ilhan Omar and Rashida Taibi and turn to Trump. Will the Democrats and the media play dumb again like they did in 2016? You betcha.

Trump didn't win.
Biden let Trump make a fool of himself, his lying will destroy him, the Trump organisation will crumple like a house of cards.
We've heard all this before in 2016. And Clinton didn't even have the ratbag 'squad' backing her in 2016 to repulse further potential voters.
It seems like we've learned nothing from Trump and Brexit in 2016 lol.
