Michel Barnier is saying that a deal between the EU and the UK is close.
He's saying that both of the parties are prepared to move in their demands.

So a grown up is being positive about it, that's good to hear, let's hope he's right.

The government will probably mess it up at the last minute, or claim victory where there is none, it could go either way with these clowns.

The EU negotiators are returning to London tomorrow to restart discussions.
Both sides have agreed to move their positions closer to bridge the remaining areas of concern.

I mean what leader wants to negotiate a trade deal but thinks a bill that breaks international law is far better bargaining tool??

I think the Internal Markets Bill is a bit of window dressing to signal "intent" From the sounds of it sounds like the key points which are state aid rules and fishing waters are the ones which remain insoluble.

The State aid one I think seems easy its just about agreeing to a set of rules when the state bails or invests in a company which don't distort competition or provide an unfair advantage.

Fuck knows how you solve the fishing problem. Maybe a 5 year licence which is revoked if quotas are breached so you can pass off having control of waters while giving the EU what they want. Btw I assume fishing access allows us to fish in theirs as well.

I am so over this since this catastrophic decision.
