^ I don't like Graham and his calls for Biden to call Pelosi to tell her to not impeach Trump so that the country can heal are pitiful. 5 people died due to Trump and his enablers like Graham. You do not get a free pass for trying to enact a coup. I don't however like to see people harangued like that and when its from people who purport to be Republicans it just shows how low the Republican party has sunk.

So far 6 local state officials have been named as insurrectionists and at least one has been arrested and filmed doing the "perp walk" that is being taken way in handcuffs.

2 Seattle Police Department Officers have been suspended for taking part and more are likely to follow around the country

Not much has been said yet about the munitions that the insurrectionist had but so far pipe bombs were found and a van with molotov cocktails and weapons. The van driver was arrested nearby with 2 more handguns. None of the guns were registered and in any case it is illegal to have them in Washington. Police have said that the way the molotov cocktails had been made they would have been like napalm as the contents would have stuck to the skin of anybody they landed on.

It is also being reported that briefings to Nato allies are describing the events as an attempted coup

I've been to the USA over a dozen times for business and pleasure but I said 4 years ago I would not go again whilst Trump was President. Sadly I think it will be a while longer before I deem it safe in a post covid world. It's a beautiful country, The Grand Canyon. Yellowstone, Yosemite are awesome but there are 74 million cult members who will take some time to deradicalise.

This thread has gone a bit rogue in places.

Trump lost for 2 key reasons: Firstly because he handled the pandemic abysmally and exposed how dumb he is, and secondly, his re-election campaign was half hearted and weak, it never really got off the ground. Fraudulent voting was not material to his loss.


Trump has brought conservatism, the right and the Republican Party shame and disrepute. No fraud proved on a scale that could alter the outcome. Should have gone gracefully. He is graceless and has acted like an 8 year old sore loser at Monopoly. The events at the Capitol were at once both disgraceful and curiously pathetic.

^^^ He is a complete mad man imo, who has caused so much damage to America that it's going to take a very long time, (months, maybe years??), to undo the divide he has widened in American society. The sooner he's out of office, the better and then the healing can slowly begin but I would hope he is impeached because this would stop him being able to run for office again.
