Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it?

^He deserved it after what he did and some people should show more respect to him. Those people who attackerd him on twitter need to be revealed named and shamed by their relatives friends. Fucking bastard bet half of them are the same who did the abuse to the footy players last week. Twitter need to do their bit bt on this by suspending their accounts and passing all details to police. Def would want them to feel ther full weight of the law and justice system.

Even if he passes away through COVID or not, I hope protocol can be swept aside for him to have a state (with full military honours) funeral and for one day the whole country shuts down everyone at home watching paying their respects. it wouild be the least the country can do for him.

Family decision taking a 100 year old 4000 miles to Barbs and back before having a vaccination. As the family are we with him now in hospital we know what will happen next, they just did not need to do it.

how did they get to barbados did they all walk there or flap there arms like wings they had to buy a ticket legally and then go to an airport pass all sorts of controls get on a flight and fly there

If you wanna attack anyone attack the bloody goverment for not shutting it all down so they couldnt fly

Again they were warned about varients coming into the country and Boris overid sage and now we have the south african varient here

Family decision taking a 100 year old 4000 miles to Barbs and back before having a vaccination. As the family are we with him now in hospital we know what will happen next, they just did not need to do it.

He's 100 years old so most likely it would be his last holiday even without Covid & Pneumonia. BA Offered the family free flights, the rules at the time allowed them to fly and Barbados had minimal cases.

He's done enough for others so i hope they all enjoyed a bit of sun. Sitting on a beach with a drink beats sitting in the UK looking outside at the fucking snow.

The 2nd-Wave of the Spanish-Flu Pandemic was most likely down to a mutated Virus variant. The bulk of the 50 million world-wide deaths occurred during a 3 month Autumn period. The spread was in the main down to US troop movement throughout Europe. A perfect storm, people cramped together, no social-distancing, global travel, unwillingness to impose quarantines, for fear of it impacting the war effort.

Medically, the scientists were unable to isolate the virus that caused the flu, unlike today with China providing the information, so vaccines were not effective. Some success was made with blood-plasma anti-body treatment as has been used today. They used oxygen but had no ventilators. Antibiotics were not in use. They tried everything & anything to little or no effect including aspiring & bloodletting.

The most effective measures were lockdowns & social-distancing, interestingly, during the 2nd-wave in San Francisco who employed these measures & quarantines for visitors, school & bar closures & mandatory mask wearing in public. Death were low. But when the 3rd wave struck which was generally mild, businesses opened as they felt that the mask-wearing had been the most effective measure. deaths were twice that of the more deadly 2nd wave.

A little more than 100 years later little has changed, the greatest advances, have been medical science, an obvious plus, & increased & improved global travel, with faster Air-travel replacing slower sea-travel, which has been the single most driver for this current pandemic.

Simple lessons, that we have ignored.

And we don't know if the illness is even linked to the trip. Talk about jumping to conclusions
