The vaccine rollout looks good however.
We've had to pay more for the Pfizer vaccine than the EU negotated.
That's why we've had priority.
We've signed a waver with Pfizer if it turns out that the vaccine causes side effects. (The EU has not)
And Britain are worse than France when it comes to administered the 2nd of the jabs.

I'm not surprised nor concerned if we paid more for the vaccine as we don't have the bulk purchasing power of the EU. The side effects waiver was known about some time ago. As the EU are not extending the time between doses I would expect all EU members to get ahead of us in the short term for delivering the 2nd dose.

It will be interesting to see how fast we roll out the first dose to the next categories over the next few weeks as there are going to be 500,000 people a day expecting their 2nd dose

RE: Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it?
there seams to have been some info leaking out of number 10 again today Rolleyes about the 3 different plans for ending the lockdown

plan one is called super fast and is basted on everything going perfect, this based on all over 50s getting the jab on time, this super fast plan sees pubs reopen the last part of lockdown lifting open from 1 May,

the average plan is 4 weeks slower seeing pubs reopen on the spring bank hol of 31 May,

the shits gone wrong plan lol, sees pubs reopen in July or August if it really goes bad, there is a note saying this would only happen if they ran out of vaccine,

this is the key dates

MARCH 8

Schools in England due to fully reopen. Two people not in same household may be allowed to socialise.

EARLY APRIL

Sports like tennis and golf where distancing is easier may be allowed and non-essential retail might restart.

EASTER WEEKEND

This is when lockdown-sceptic Tory backbenchers are wanting the hospitality sector to be reopened.

EARLY MAY

Under a "super-fast" plan, pubs and restaurants would restart outdoors when all over-50s are inoculated.

also today its been said that uk based holidays could restart at Easter for people who live together, but SAGE are now saying that international holidays should not happen until 2022,

bojo is expected to say that starting 22/2 things will be reviewed every 2 weeks to get the restrictions down as fast as can

currently walking on the Sunny side of the street

The biggest mistake the EU made was trying to turn an emergency purchase into a business deal. They spent 3 months trying to haggle after we signed our contracts. Early Bird / Worm etc....

The vaccine waivers (AIUI) don't apply where negligence is involved, so as they've gone through a full, if accelerated approval process there's unlikely to be any major issues. Although there's always the possibility of an adverse reaction in a minority.

French Figures (to Feb 14th). 1st dose 2,254,688. 2nd dose 647,173.
UK Figures (same date). 1st dose 15,300,151. 2nd dose 539,630.

If that's "worse" then I can live with it.

We seem to be ahead of the game in this part of the world. My Brother in Law is 58 with no underlying medical conditions and he's been called for his first jab later this week. I expect I'll get a shout in the next few weeks but if happily wait a bit if it means my mum gets her 2nd jab sooner. They should concentrate on 2nd doses for the most vulnerable and slow the pace for the 1st in younger people imho.

Only 3 things in life are certain. Death, Taxes and lesbians will never look how they do in porn movies.

RE: Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it?
The newspapers were reporting an unnamed official source on Saturday giving a slightly different "super-fast" scenario.

When putting those dates to ones I'd already logged recently the calendar became as follows:

Ca.Feb 21 - All takers among over 65s have had 1st jab. Vunerable groups follow.

Feb 22 (week of) - Official announcement of 'road map' out of lockdown.

March - People who had 1st vaccination in January (first ones under 12 week delay between jabs) begin to get second shot. First 5mil (of the UK's 17mil ordered) doses of Moderna vaccine come on stream.

March 8 - Schools start to go back.

Late March - Non-essential shops to re-open (22nd would seem to be the earliest this would happen).

By April - All takers among over 60s have had 1st jab.

April 2 (Good Friday) - Pubs and restaurants to re-open. Holidays in this country allowed again.

By end of April - all over 50s offered first shot.

International holidays were said to be only "some months" away. Industry experts are hoping for May it seems. Travel corridors to countries judged to be doing better than most seems inevitable whenever it does happen. The UK government is said to be at the forefront of vacination passport proposals to allow those that have been jabbed easier flying.

Events that would usually have big crowds are obvious going to be majorly impacted through the summer still. They are talking of charter planes ferrying small cohorts of foreign fans to the last games of the Euros at Wembley in mid-July for instance.

July - A fourth vacinne - Novavax, to be regulated by the UK "within weeks" - is expected to roll out in the latter half of the year.

By Autumn - Everyone over 16 jabbed twice.

This sequence would seem to be the very best scenario we could hope for. But maybe, given winsaw's reports, this schedule has already been judged too optimistic?

The idea that the babeshows "are not that deep" is driven by those that don't wish to acknowledge how much effective customer service and a consideration of psychology impacts users' future interactions.

All the way along the course of this pandemic, Johnson has been too quick to provide ' hostages to fortune' with his staging post 'guarantees' - how many times has he had to roll back on them?? To say this will have to be the 'final' lockdown is another one! He can't possibly say that, unless he knows that the virus will be eradicated! I am damn sure he can't say that, I would suggest
