Sky are using their own camera's for the Surrey v Middlesex game, & not the steamed coverage used in the previous 2 matches. But it is London, will they drag their stuff up north for next weeks roses clash in Manchester ?

RE: County Championship 2021
Performance of the (very damp) day, goes to Kent's Darren Stevens, at 45 years young & still going strong. In recent years his nagging medium paced bowling has taken centre stage, as he has dropped down the batting order. But in the last year or so he's put in some special performances with the bat, & today was another. Kent's batting has been woeful this season. After a solid 60 run opening stand, Stevo arrived at the crease with his side in trouble at 80-5, which quickly became 92-7 & not much better at 128-8. He then almost singlehandedly carried his side to within sight of 300 when hw was the 9th wicket to fall. In the 166 run partnership he scored 160 of the with 6 extras & just 1 single from Miguel Cummins, who was last out for 7 off 61 balls. Stevens contributed 96.38% which is a record for a 100 stand in first class cricket. His 190 came off 149 balls with 15 four & 15 sixes, which puts him in joint 2nd spot for the most maximums in Championship cricket, one short of equaling Andrew Symonds in 1995 against the same team Glamorgan.

RE: County Championship 2021
Only one positive result in this weeks matches. With rain severely affecting play. Nottinghamshire went almost 3 years without a Championship victory, had 3 on the bounce. They are now leading Group 1 after their latest win over Worcestershire. Standout performances came from Ben Duckett with 177 no & Luke Fletcher with match figures of 10-57.

RE: County Championship 2021
As I expected, Lancashire secured their first victory in Championship cricket for 10 years & the first at Old Trafford for 21 years. Yorkshire battled hard, & were less that 7 overs away from drawing the match. As has been the case all yea, & for the last 3 or 4 years, first innings batting. Once I saw the team sheets, the writing was on the wall, most teams would struggle without Root, Ballance, Malan & Bairstow. Yorkshire fielded only 4 front-line batsmen, then allrounders, a 20 year old with 2 first class matches & a 19 year old keeper in his 2nd game, with Bess too high at six.
The bright spot for me was Saqib Mahmood, looking closer to the finished article that England are looking for, with only 21 first class games behind him, at 24, & hopefully injury-free, the best is yet to come. Warwickshire must be gutted that he's he's not turning out for his home county.
