England or Germany would face the winner out of Sweden v Ukraine.

Denmark looked far superior to Wales. It was an off performance from the Welsh but I have to admire the Danes for that power display. Since the horrific events of the opening weekend, they've probably become every neutral's pick for the title. They look galvanised. The forwards Damsgaard and Dolberg; and left winger Maehle have excellent pace and threat in the opposition box.

I think they'll be some surprises in this round. The knockout phase seems to have a different effect on the teams - we saw Italy needing extra time to beat Austria. Netherlands v Czech Republic is a good appetiser before tonight's blockbuster between Belgium and Portugal. I fancy all four teams to score.

If England beat Germany -- and I think they will -- they have a perfectly do-able route to the Final.

One of Sweden or Ukraine, followed by one of Czech Republic or Denmark.

England can beat any one of those teams on a good day. The opposite is true too, of course, but I don't think we need the sense of defeatism with which we usually go into these tournaments.

I agree it's do - able but i still feel that we have to raise our game

Cracker from T. Hazard for Belgium, hopefully opens it up in the 2nd half, not been a great game so far in terms of goal mouth action.

Looking at the draw they should be favourites. But this England team is more set up to be the underdogs with the ultra defensive, negative tactics, might work against them being expected to come out and comfortably beat Ukraine/Sweden/Denmark/Czech Republic (which will, wrongly so, likely be the media narrative), assuming they can get passed Germany.

Southgate considering Recalling Mount & Foden against Germany - Plonker & should keep the side against Czech Republic that's best that we played sor far.

Maybe I am a bit of a heretic but I tend to think the best policy in tournament football is to pick the team and set up best equipped to beat the opposition in front of you. If that means changing personnel and formation so be it.

To me it is about doing what needs to be done to exert strengths on the opposition while limiting theirs and trying to expose opposition weaknesses.
That does not always mean picking the same team and way of playing from game to game imo.

first half was ok 2nd was as dire as the first 2 games
