If OF had got their house in order it's likely Mastercard wouldn't have had to make changes.

If you court "celebs" you invite increased scrutiny. Competent management would have seen this coming.

MFC banned swathes of Asian models due to under age girls using fake i.d to register so it's not like Radvinsky isn't aware of the problem. The fact is that he just doesn't give a fuck unless his hand is forced and it has been.


Meanwhile my Snapchat is packed with MFC Models complaining that they'll have to delete content or change platforms. They'll be back to posting holiday snaps or pictures of their latest expensive purchase soon enough.

Surely the real villain in this story is PornHub, because it was their failings that kicked all this off. It was their lack of proper moderation that got the payment processors under pressure to do something about their dodgy content in the first place.

That isn't true, they do give a fuck, especially since they started chasing the celeb market. They have tried to tighten up their procedures in recent times and avoid any negative publicity. Obviously what they've done hasn't been enough and minors have still managed to register, but even their worst enemies haven't managed to find many cases out of all their millions of users.

I think the likes of Mastercard appreciate that efforts have been made by OnlyFans, otherwise they would have been cut off completely like PornHub. If they were perceived to be reckless it would be the end. The fact that they are simply given new terms requiring stronger moderation of content shows that Mastercard see what they have done so far but feel that more is needed.

Just thoughht I'd sharer this from my DM on Twitter from them : -

"Content containing nudity will continue to be allowed as long as it is consistent with the policy. Existing content that does not meet the standards of the new policy will need to be removed before December 1, 2021 or any other date which we communicate to Users. Indeed. If they were on a moral crusade they would surely stop acting as a payment partner for porn sites, rather than continuing to be a major payment partner for porn sites whilst insisting on proper moderation of content.

Many adult sites are not affected by the rule changes at all and Mastercard will continue to provide them with payment services without any issues. In other words Mastercard continues to be part and parcel of the porn industry.

We arn't just talking tweaks here. Mastercard have created a situation in which OF felt compelled to REMOVE whole swathes of legal material. Besides the former shouldn't be in a position to moderate anything. They should have no such authority. The only reason they do is because of their dominance in the marketplace.

I agree it's more likely Mastercard primary motivation is pre-emptive damage control more than moral crusade. As as been hinted in previous posts they fear legislative blowback if they fail to act against parties that become newsworthy for the wrong reasons. The religious nuts simply learnt to use the right leverage to bring this about. (The BBC article was presumably accidental version of the same thing.) Thing is anyone that can wield the right type of publicity now has a tool to work against the Adult industry. And that's the thing which censorship - there's always someone who wants more once you start.
