Hot on the heels of Waldo's version, a repeat for Andrew Graham-Dixon's effort from 2011.
1 - at least his approach seemed more chronological, so there wasn't a lot of overlap.
AoA
2 - more overlap with the later series, inevitably, the Rothko Chapel and "Jack the Dripper" amongst them.

To put it mildly Tongue excellent episode, final fight scene was quality and an exciting cliffhanger, bring on the final episode Smile

RE: What TV show did you last watch?
Landmark on Sky Arts!! Really good show over all, and a relief to get new programming amongst the repeats!

Have to say that I thought on the last show, the wrong submission was picked as the winner. My take on it was (and you would have had to have seen it to understand why) Rolleyes that either the entrant with her wire sculptures of sheep in a city environment, or the tribute to the miners should have won! Not only on the message behind the works, but the creativity and vision shown also (or in particular)

The winner was more of an installation, with a tree trunk suspended by chains from a wooden scaffold. Not only did it not have a clear message (to me at least) but the creativity/vision was sadly lacking.

It brought to mind one of my bug bears from the art world : namely that the definition of art is that which the : quote : 'artist' who 'created' it, says it is!! Too loose a definition to my way of thinking!!

I wish I could remember her name (since I think she was a fraud it is probably just as well I don't) but this one so - called artist, merely sawed off a railing with a tree trunk impaled on its spikes, and placed it in a an art gallery!! Unbelievably one called it 'genius' (actually it was T Emin that called it that as I recall) - purely for having the audacity to 'steal' it in the first place!! It is to my mind the same as that which allowed Tracy Emin to make her name through that 'unmade bed' crap!! Sad irony is, Emin is quite the sketch artist!! Shame she isn't known for that.......ditto Banksy!!

Alan Davies - As Yet Untitled
Richard Ayoade shone, so a good end to a series.

3 - one key difference with Waldo's later series is that Andy gets to interview some of the artists or their surviving families, and seems less cynical in discussion too.

Overall, another fine BBC4 repeat.

Mark Lawson talks to Jo Brand
Quite lively on stand-up and her telly works. Slags Mock the Week for having 7 comics competing for air-time (this in 2014).
