Well Cardiff might be in the Permier League next season and nobody has suggested abolishing the Wales team if they do get promoted.

Yes, but if you have Scottish clubs in their also then you've got a British league not an English league. And Celtic and Rangers are much more high profile.

I think it's a risk not worth taking, and it's not up to us to bail out Scottish football. It could make a farce of club football, because who's to say that the bigger Portuguese clubs won't try to play in the Spanish league, or the Dutch clubs in the German? If it's the rules for us, why not the same for them?

More precisely would it speed up the formation of a European Super League with the likes of Man U and Chelsea joining up with the top Spanish German and Italian sides and creaming off the Tv money. And I can't see any Scottish teams fitting in there.

I can see a European super league happening. The Real Madrid president was on about it this summer gone. If it does happen, kiss goodbye to club football.

And Spurs were the first British team to ever win a European cup but guess what? Nobody gives a shit, stop living in the fucking past. I am also sure that Man U give a fuck that Celtic have got one established fanbase in Burkina Faso that has got one solitary very sad fan when the amount of fans they have in comparison to you is 37:1. Ya.

WHN DID SPURS WIN A EUROPEAN CUP ? STMIRREN WON THE BARCALONA CUP IN 1905 CELTIC AND RANGERS REGULARLY ATTRACT MORE FANS THN CHELSEA AND LIVERPOOL N THEY PLAY AGAINST SHITTER TEAMS.WE HAVE OUR OWN TEAMS IN AFRICA SO WE HAVE THE BIGGEST FAN BASE OVER THERE N BOTH THE OLD FIRM HAVE THE BIGGEST FAN BASE IN ASIA WE ALSO MAKE MILLONS FROM OUR SPONSORS SUCH AS CARLING,COKE,SAMSUNG,SONY SO WE WOULD B BRINGING MORE GOOD THN BAD TO ENGLAND.WHN WAS THE LAST TIME U LAST SAW THE OLD FIRM TEAMS PLAY

The Barcelona cup wasn't a European cup that is like saying the Emirates cup is a European Cup or the Peace and Wembley Cups are World Cups, is that what you are saying? If it appeases you Spurs were the first team to win a European Cup that mattered, in 1963, the Cup Winners Cup. And I do not think that you quite get the difference between how many fanbases you own in a country and how many FANS you have in that country, if you think that you have got more fans than Man U in any country except Scotland then you are completely delusional.

The fact you also attract more fans to games than Liverpool and Chelsea has nothing to do with the fact you have a bigger stadium no? If it was 5 years ago you would of been saying that you attract more fans than Arsenal but as soon as they expanded to the Emirates they instantly filled it every week. Kinda hard to beat an attendance figure when your stadium holds 18,000 less (in Chelsea's case), it has nothing to do with popularity you tool, just simple maths. And the fact (as you pointed out) that you cannot fill the stadium every week is really pisspoor.

And if you earn so much from sponsors why are your players so shit, poorly paid and you cannot attract any big names? I watched Celtic play in the Wembley Cup and Rangers in Europe the other week, that is the last time I do that, not impressed.

You're not for this world, this world is for you.

RE: Celtic and Rangers in premier league?
The whole ridiculous idea just keeps gathering momentum and now will be discussed by Premier League chairman at a meeting tomorrow:
I think you would be hard pressed to find a fan in england who thinks it a good idea,I've certainly not been able to after asking around in pubs and at games. I've had a BCFC season ticket since a kid but if this notion comes about I would think very seriously about calling time on football. This would be the final proof (if any were needed) that money is the soul consideration in football these days and the fans opinions are of no importance and fans are considered a bit of an irrelevance to the game today.
No surprise that it should be the Bolton chairman driving forward plans to expand the Prem in order to keep Bolton in it, but what of the smaller clubs being cast adrift even further if you have a two tier premier league?

Speaking as a Bolton fan I'm embarrassed that it's Gartside who keeps coming up with this bollocks. Although not surprised. I agree wholeheartedly with Brummie, this shows how much football is now purely driven by money - the major reason I'm increasingly losing interest.

I don't know where you magic pixies came from, but I like your pixie drink!

Absolutely. Football rose from the "normal" working man, for the normal working people. These "values" are what made it what it was/is (stress on the "was"). Not like now what it is.. it's so far from these roots, it's a game i no longer recognise.. or like.

Having said that.. i'm just about hanging on to keeping interest in the results - whether or not this continues is another story.

Apologies for my last post (in this thread anyway), i've just realised this is about those Glasgow clubs joining our English league.

Which incidently i am whole heartedly against aswell.

The Proposal for Rangers & Celtic to join has been rejected (at least for now).I expect it will return in some form at a later date Rolleyes

However the proposal regarding a two tier Premier League is going to form part of the ongoing Strategic Review which is to report by Dec 2010.
(i believe )

It had to be rejected. If Celtic and Rangers were allowed to join the EPL then a precedent would have been set. You could have a scenario where the big Portuguese clubs would want to join the Spanish league, or Bayern Munich wanting to go to Serie A. Also, not fair on the smaller clubs who've worked hard to get into the PL, and these two just jump ship and go instantly into the top flight.

RE: Celtic and Rangers in premier league?
Its good to see common sense has prevailed in the end,but as has already been mentioned don't be surprised to see it reappear at a later date.
As to the two tier Premier League, we are constantly being told how successful the Prem is , awash with money, best league in the world envy of the world etc. so why the need to change something that works so well?
