Ep 3 “Choose To Live” Season 4 (Non-Spoiler).

Pretty good Ep, not as strong as the first two Ep but still interesting nine the less.
There multiple storylines are in this Ep all tho they interesting I did feel too many were going taking away from each of the storylines. Book gets some interesting storyline with tragic loss. The ending regarding Grey did a bring a little tear to the eye. I also feel the pacing was a little slow but a enjoyable Ep.

I agree, pretty good is where it landed for me as well. The Book stuff has been done well, sad stuff, and I like the actor David Ajala.
I enjoyed seeing the Qowat Milat pop up, that could have been it's own thing, it would have been a great episode in itself imo. I'm not too fond of Adira and Gray, they're like whiny teens, but it's a nice story and I do think the inclusion of a non-binary character is a good thing.

Will be watching this week’s episode on Sunday night as I’m out tonight & tomorrow and will give my thoughts then. Not surprised David Ajala is again standing out. Such a top bloke & great guy who really appreciates & is grateful for the support he gets from fans. One of the best Star Trek actors I’ve met

Seen Choose To Live tonight & thought it was a good solid episode with Mary Wiseman standing out for me as Tilly tried to push herself out of her comfort zone & try new things which I can relate to given I'm autistic and for me is more evidence that Tilly is autistic too

Ep 4 was just painful to watch. More touchy feely stuff, a Starship Troopers/Tremors rip off on ice and a tedious political sub plot to give Captain Emotional something to do.

This is starting make the last episode of Enterprise look good.

RE: Star Trek Discovery
It definitely felt like a filler episode, too much going on and nothing really gelling like it should.

4 episodes in though is taking the piss. Mid season or just before a milestone is fine, this felt like a bunch of random stuff thrown together.
I just hope that the slight disjointed episode last week, and this one are blips. Too convoluted isn't enjoyable tv.

The teen drama stuff needs binned off, who fucking cares what hairdo one and two are up to in all honesty.
Give me more Book, and for the love of Spock, more development of the bridge crew. Those characters deserve better.

RE: Star Trek Discovery
If you wanna see evidence of that happening Season 2 of Next Gen which also didn’t help with writers strike and nearly got cancelled hence why season 3 is different, DS9, Voyager and especially Enterprise that issue. Star Trek does a lot filler ep to cover the budget.
Was gonna a separate review of Ep 4 but may as well do it here now I didn’t mind the 3 different story arcs as for the show I was hoping for more serialised Ep like classic Star Trek rather then focusing on the big baddie the only downside by doing this is your less focused on each of stories. The biggest issue for me was not the disjointed stuff but on certain character arcs and stories it was going backwards for example Book story last ep it made it seem like he found peace all tho you never truly recover from grief then this Ep it felt like they undid and forgot what happened but the chemistry between him and Hugh was great. Then those people wanted to join the federation but they want a compromise again why wasn’t this bought up before when they wanted help and join because of the new threat. Again they wrapped it up well. Then finally the cadet story arc if they hate each so much why join star fleet as you be with different races of people. This story arc has been done before in Voyager when Tuvok had to train those misfit Marquee crew who didn’t wanna fit in but became buddies by the end. Again they did wrap it well, this Ep felt two steps forward one step back.
