England Woman Cricket Team
Watahing 3rd womens ODI and Australia have compiled 269 from their 50 over knock - all day long a reasonable total in an ODI - and not a six in sight. It is a great watch, and in stark contrast to too many matches in this world cup ( and men's odi's in general) which are hit it where you like, no price for even the best bowling skills - going so far as to make a virtue of the number of sixes hit with a maximum counter. Boring one dimensional tosh!!

Yhank you ladies...….much appreciated!! Elyse Perry is - by the way - bowling some absolute rippers. Were any of the men to bowl as she is,they would - if English - find themselves with the queen in front of them with a sword in one hand, and a knighthood in the other. I really wish I was exaggerating on that point!!

We really do need to recognise womens' cricket more!! Not only are ODI's better in the womens' game, but we have just had the pleasure of watching one of the great test matches (men or women) Top skills on show, and a finale to match anything that 2005 threw up! England actually blew it, by playing T20 when rotation was required..........but still.....a great watch .......oh and on a great pitch which is needed in the mens version ICC.

Definitely more tests needed especially in these conditions, and if one change is required to the game, it is the length of the pitch - i.e reduced by one crease length! This would make the bowling speeds seem faster, and the reactions similarly!!

The Ashes still alive with the ODI's still to come!!

^^ Australia set up what was in effect a 50 over run chase, & a very generous target. England blew it. Many are calling for a 5 day Test, after time was lost on day 3. Bu, given 5 days Australia would've had no need to declare their 2nd innings & could've set a target beyond England.
There's been a lot of chat about how the men's Championship is not fit for purpose, to provide the quality of players to be successful at Test level. All the women have are domestic 50 & 20 over comps, so it's a big stretch for them to bat long & bowl long spells in a 5 day match.

Women already play with the boundary ropes in, & bowl with a smaller ball, so why not reduce the pitch length.

I would argue that they are maybe a touch too far in??

^^ I think maybe it's a white-ball issue in both men's & women's games. Spinners especially aren't getting as many wickets caught on the boundary. Sixes in the women's game were very scarce in the past, are now a much more common sight.

Still to be confirmed, but England are expected to host a Test Match against South Africa, their first since 2914.

Australia won the 1st ODI by 27 runs, & with it retain the Ashes with an unassailable 8-4 lead.

England were unfortunately really poor today!! Shot their bolt in saving the Test to keep Ashes alive!(could and perhaps should - have won it)

In the 3rd ODI England lost by 8 wickets. Australia look at a different level, to what is a decent England side, who are perhaps a little jaded.
Beaumont & Sciver established a platform at 107-2 after 2 early wickets, but when neither pushed on, the middle & lower order barely contributed.
