Another good watch in the latest women's ODI NZ V IND. The Kiwis should actually have posted closer to 280 in my view, but - like so many other sides (men or women) - went too early in trying to achieve more than they were entitled too, and fell short. Sound chase from India though. They won it comfortably in the end.

Finally after losses to Australia, South Africa & West Indies, England get a win against India. Every match is a knockout, with 3 more wins required for the defending champions to progress. The losses where close in most cases, with poor fielding being a deciding factor.

Sounds familiar!! Maybe the ladies can copy their male counterparts in this respect - Tough ask though!!

England's Women had a narrow 1 wicket win over hosts New Zealand, & are now halfway down the road of qualifying for the later stages, with Pakistan & Bangladesh coming up.

I saw some of the game last night, the first time in about a year I’ve watched the Eng Women and I was struck by how unfit some of them look now! It definitely showed in some of their ground fielding too!

^^ Brunt & Shrubsole are both carrying a bit of extra timber.

They made a meal of it Booms'. Neither side batted well to be fair! If this was your first view of women's cricket, don't judge it overall. It is much better than what was put on show in this contest.

Now back on track, after a comfortable 1oo run victory over Bangladesh. They now face South Africa in the 2nd Semi on Thursday 31 March, as side that England suffered a narrow defeat to in the group stages. South Africa must be favourites after an impressive run chase against India, who failed to reach the last 4, with West Indies benefiting from their loss, although they play Australia on Tuesday 29 March.
The Aussies look streets ahead of every other team, as they were unbeaten in the qualifying stage.

Sunday's final (2am BST) will be contested between Australia & England, after conclusive victories by 157 & 137 runs respectively. Whilst Australia were always expected to be far too strong for West Indies, England appeared to have a battle on their hands. The win were built upon large totals after being asked to bat, Australia's openers Haynes & Healy put on 216 as the side posted 305-3. England made steady progress, scoring at around 5 per over, with the telling partnership came when Dunkley (60) arrived at the crease with the score on 126-4, joining opener Wyatt (129) the combined for 116 runs. Wyatt's ton was aided by some poor South African fielding as she was dropped on 5 occasions. Impetus was added at the back-end of the innings by a quick-fire 24 from Ecclestone, with 5 boundaries, to carry her side to an imposing 293-8. The world number one ODI spinner then took a career best 6-36, as she ran through the middle & lower order, after 2 early strikes from Shrubsole. In contract Australia's bowlers shared out the wickets, in the absence of star allrounder Perry, who is expected to return for the final, to further strengthen their team.
