There must have been a rebellion from the Cons benches?? or they simply sat on their hands?? One would suggest principle and honour, the other, nothing more than a clear indication that they weren't prepared to put their name to the only outcome that was on the table, if the issue was standards in public life, and a message that nobody is beyond the reach of those standards. If this is the case, they surrender their status as the party of law and order.

I would have thought Sunak's odds were much lower than that and that he'd be out of the running.

They have to be don't they?? I know people will see that she has no pedigree or record, but Penny Mordaunt may be someone worth considering. She has no baggage, and her appearances in the Commons would suggest that she is a serious politician who respects all views expressed as a genuine contribution to debate. She doesn't appear to be someone who tries to get one over the opposition (from the opposite benches or her own) with dismissive tones or retorts??

dont know he was nearly odds on about 6 weeks ago

was definate briefing against him wouldnt surprise me it was from No10 itself surprised hasnt been any briefing against truss as well

bascially ruling out any comp so they can say you cant replace me
