Last Week Tonight w/John Oliver
A main topic on bail reform, which in the USA needs more drastic improvements as its effects can be terrible whether a person is charged or innocent or neither.

5.6 Nitin Sawhney and Sophie Ellis-Bextor are the kinds of guests who are always available.

I don't know what that's supposed to mean, but Sawhney is an outstanding musician, composer, and producer.
I wish I'd seen him play live, since the one time I have, back around 1995, when his second album was out.
He's always been interesting when I've heard or seen him interviewed, and he's been a good presenter, too, when he's had programmes on radio.
He was also one of the original performers and writers in Goodness Gracious Me.

I'm not as keen on SEB, but I doubt she's any more short of engagements.

A key point might be that the programme is from 2019, before everyone had to find more things to occupy their time.
Not that I think I've watched any of that series, but trailers.

I should add (24/12/2023) that I am still more extensively shadowbanned than I've ever been, despite paying for a blue tick for several months, see my pinned thread, profile and header pics

29/10/2024: because of my being locked out of my original account, I'm using seducedx6_live on Twitter/'x', see the pinned thread there.
I'm using a friend's account, midriffique, a tweet from which is already linked above, with whom I did do three-way tag team tweeting, whilst he's taking a longterm break from social media.

Well, thank you for backing up my decision to name them, something I don't bother with for everyone.

PAotY 2019

RE: What TV show did you last watch?
Festival of remembrance

My family and I used to be avid viewers of this every year, but some time ago now, I became increasingly frustrated at the format changes (I assume driven by the bbc - but in fairness i am not sure??) which I considered were less appropriate to the occasion being a commemoration, and more of a populist 'london variety performance' platform.

The servicemen/women were once upon a time front and centre in every respect - including the on - stage demonstrations/drills, that gave a further insight about what they do and how (common sense should already provide some appreciation at least), together with the parade of the services being at the start of the event, and not an add - on near the end. Now that has been dispensed with, in favour of every tom, dick and hilda of the so - called celebrity (and others) world singing the same old songs, and reciting manufactured 'poetry' etc with little meaning. Last night - I am sorry to say - was exactly the same!

I'm not convinced there aren't better choices, but hey, it's their show. Nice to see Derek Malcolm back occasionally to swell the numbers.
Discovering: Meg Ryan
To give them their due, they did include Joe Versus the Volcano.

5.8 The final heat, and for the first time since the 2nd series, two go through to complete the semi-final line-up.
