RIP Betty Boothroyd

Just been announced that former speaker of the house Betty Boothroyd has died died aged 93

First Female Speaker of the house would have loved to have seen how she would have dealt with Boris and Co nowadays it would have been fun to watch

A great lady. British politics need more like her and less of the mob we have to put up with today.

A real lady who stood no messing from that gang of kids in the house. She showed them who was in charge. RIP Betty.

As Commons Speakers go Boothroyd was one of the very best.
Impartial, objective, authoritative, sincere and highly competent.

She was all that Snooks sad but I would also add she didn'r stand much nonsense, honest and quick witted. She very much made the Speaker role her own. I'm sure the tributes in the House will be warm on both sides.
