Football Focus and I believe that today's final score have been scrapped today over the Gary Linekar fallout.
All the BBC presenters have withdrawn from today's shows, saying that they don't feel right in going ahead.

But football focus will continue tonight but it may be without presenters & commentators.

Lineker has had way too much exposure over this. Am I on my own in thinking that he is an average presenter at best. He's surely in the wrong job, boring voice & devoid of any personality or charisma. Mirroring his football career, overrated, he tapped in a few goals from the 6-yard box. He overachieved advertising crisps.
So many bright, young talented presenters that would do a better job for a fraction of the price.

Lineker's the best at what he does, simply the best. Look at what other channels serve up, Jake Humphrey, Richard Keys etc. To be honest, I can't believe you made the above post. Are you a Mark Chapman fanboy?

If you read carefully what I said, I wasn't comparing him to any other presenters. If you & others believe he's the best, it's because he's been unchallenged. There's plenty of talent out there in local radio for example but never given a chance.

I can't believe that you think he's so great either.

The BBC loved Lineker so much they thought it was a great idea to let him loose on Golf & gave him the Masters one year, total car crash, utter fuck up.

It's the same argument with Ant & Dec, winning entertainment awards yet after year, nobody else gets a look in. They even got compared to Morecambe & Wise. which is a joke in itself, & an insult.

I'm prepared to meet you halfway & say Lineker is the best, of a very bad bunch.

Where would Lineker rank among the previous regular MOTD presenters, Kenneth Wolstenholme, David Coleman, Jimmy Hill, & Des Lynam.

You might widen that to the state of presenting/broadcasting across all telly, really. I don't think it's entirely down to rose-tinted glasses that the names who fronted sports shows (and others) in days of yore were superior to some of their modern replacements.

To give one example: David Vine was consummate. Ray Stubbs bloody well wasn't.

The best sports presenter on the BBC by a mile is actually Hazel Irvine who really is the complete professional.

Outstanding on the Olympic coverage and quite brilliant on the snooker.
Unflustered, calm and diligent to the last.

As for the football presenter debate I am steering well clear thank you .

Into the quarter finals of the FA cup... and who do we get drawn again, maybe some duff team like the Rovers. No we get Manchester City, at the Etihad Stadium.
And what did they do last night in the Champions League, they put 7 past Leipzig and Harland scored 5 goals.
