I presume you're downloading as a free user Scotsman. I was under the impression that you couldn't use a download manager as a free user, although I may be mistaken.

EDIT: I've just check my download manager, and it requests login details for either a premium or collectors account. Maybe you can use a download manager with a collectors account, which is free to set up.

I've just got a Rapidshare specific download client from MajorShare. You put in the address, it waits the time limit then starts downloading. Doesn't seem to be working though.

See, I'm reluctant to get a premium account again since RS isn't working for me at the moment and last time I had one, when the free account was working fine, the premium downloads were slow as hell.

What perplexes me is why RS is the norm...Megaupload allows free file uploads and is a lot less erratic than RS.

Like Skate has said earlier, most of the content that I dl is available on RS. I have started using megaupload for the longer vids that I upload (1 link) so free users have no waiting time for multiple links. I'm uploading as a free user on MU and get good upload speeds during off peak hrs. I have tested the dl and get much faster speeds then RS as a free user. Ultimately, it comes down to cost. RS costs £15 for 3 months where as MU costs £18 (rounded down). RS is therefore more cost effective and gives me greater benefits in terms of downloading content from elsewhere. MU is not widely used on other forums. Why? I have no idea.

I've used Rapidshare to download vids from the forum, but is there anything else to download off Rapidshare and how would I find it?

I think that there are specialised engines that search for RS files however the only ones I have seen are when I am searching for a model's name and a link comes up to a search site that lists lots of RS links.However it's a bit hit and miss as quite a lot of the links are broken.
