Not that long ago, there was serious talk of roofs/canopies being developed for cricket stadia!! I guess the '08 crash put paid to that??. A solution?? Not sure there is one, and furthermore, I think some of the 'cries' of 'injustice' are disingenuous!! Would they be there if England had been 2 - 1 to the good?? Some opinions like that of Piers 'fog horn leg horn' Morgan are best discarded!

It's the 5th test today from the Oval.

Australia put England in to bat who are currently 184/4. Brook is 68 off 67 balls.

3 quick wickets by England this morning has turned the match around.

Good to see that Mark Wood is fit enough to bowl this morning.

Broad hit the last runs in the England innings with a six. And then took the last 2 wickets to win the match.

RE: Ashes in England 2023
Back to normal now I hope! To read the running ticker on sky 'football' news, you would think that England actually come away from this series as 'winners' of something! Can someone please enlighten me as to what??

The manner Australia went about things after lunch (particularly after the rain delay) beggared belief! Before lunch, they played text book 4th inns run chase cricket, to somehow then lose their minds with a 'bull at a gate' approach! Nonetheless, congrats England on squaring the series (again Sky seem to think they did something more than that)

The post match discussion included stating what was obvious from the beginning, namely that M Ali will once again reach for the pipe and slippers (permanently this time??) so bringing the next 'candidate' in the spin dept into the selection conversations for the winter and beyond. I will ask the same question that I think I posed before - leaving aside who we think most likely to be......?? - If England are content with moving forward with a new name/face in this role, why then and not in this series?? Can only be one answer, and of course we know what that is............frustratingly and sadly! Just briefly on M Ali, it was good to see him occupy as a swan song, the #3 position in the batting line - up! That was always his best position, but not recognising that all along, cost England a quality player in the Test arena

Kudos to S Broad!! I was just shaking my head in disbelief at the 'bail swap' coming good again!- the odds? In addition, somehow written that he would end things to tie the contest!
