RE: NFL 2023-2024 Season
Now that I've calmed down a bit, I can reflect on a great game. The Niners got in some great positions, they just needed to be more effective at getting the ball in the Endzone. Credit to 2 quality defensive efforts both team totally negated each others offense, first the Niners, then the Chiefs.
I always believed that the Niners needed to gain an advantage in turnovers in order to win. It turned out 2 each, but missed a good opportunity when they intercepted Mahomes, had great field position, yet came up scoreless. The fumble off the Chiefs punt proved another turning point, & the missed extra point was vital. That marred what was a brave effort from rookie kicker Moody.
Purdy took a few long shots which missed their target due to Chiefs pressure, but he was calm & will learn from this loss. CMC had 80 yards rushing & 80 catching, although they gave up on the run too early in the 2nd half with far too many unproductive drives.
The Niners pass rush got to Mahones early but he stepped up as usual, especially in the final 2 drives, which would be another area where the Niners defense may have done things differently.

RE: NFL 2023-2024 Season
I have to agree Reg it probably wasn't the high scoring game that many expected but I think both teams need to be applauded for delivering a ending fitting of the occasion - surely that last drive by the Chiefs has to be up there with Brady's "Miracle Pass" drive for the Vikings?
When I watched the highlights of that last drive I noticed one smalll thing I am sure that every time before the ball was snapped back, Mahomes stamped his right foot down, I'm not sure every QB does it before the snap, but durimg that drive Mahomes did, and wondering if that was a signal he uses.

Think it was only the second time that the SB went into overtime, but to be honest it is scary that Chiefs are probably not even at their peak and not even their best team and it may be quite some time before they are beaten. I reckon many are now conparing them to the great Steelers sides of the 1970's are they even better than them?
Mahomes place All Time was one of the bigger topics BEFORE the game
As far as a talent, he's the best raw talent I've ever seen play the position
I still think his best days as a Quarterback are ahead of him. A lot of the legends had their best seasons in their 30s (Mahomes is 28).
Brady's 7 Championships are going to be really, really hard to beat.
The Chiefs have a division that is winnable for the next few years, but the AFC is loaded with a lot of Top Tier QBs. Granted it was the same way for Brady.
Give them less, they will pay more
