I found one of the theory articles that pop up before a new season, the focus being what is this 'treasure'.

Some of them are alright, whether it be connecting to the past like DS9 or something totally new, which could be fun if done properly.
I hadn't realised (mainly because it didn't interest me), that the academy show will be set in the 32nd century, so might not be the same old same old we've seen some of before if that's the case, which was why I was all meh about it.
Anyway, I hope they've made the right choice in the direction they take this final season, it'd be a real shame if it was a massive letdown.

Production has started on the Section 31 TV Movie.

Season 5 final season to debut in April with 2 Eps.

Ken Mitchell who appeared in multiple roles in Discovery has passed away at the age of 49 after a long battle with ALS. Met him at Destination Star Trek in 2018. What a really lovely & very funny guy. RIP Ken

Ep 1 “Red Directive” Season 5 Final Season

Great start to season 5, really does look more like a big budget movie. This does connect to Star Trek The Next Generation particular the Ep 20 “The Chase” Season 6. The visual references to a TNG Character and another visual reference & name drop of another TNG character both of which you’ll spot.

I thought it was a great start as well, they really do seem to have gone all out budget wise, that was a big opener.
Not watched episode 2 yet, but if they do this story right, it'll be a good way to end things. I'm intrigued.

^ Haven't had chance to watch the new episodes yet as I'm away in London so great to see this. Will watch once home tomorrow or on Sunday
