As long as its not Gerrard or Lampard or Wayne rooney then will be happy

Can see them promoting Lee Carsley up to the Job already won the U21 Euros

Think Eddie Howe will be to expensive in compensation and then wages

someone like Poch or Tuchel would be good to

Would hit the Jackpot if it was Klopp or Pep Tongue Tongue

Klopp, I suspect, is wishful thinking. I wouldn’t object to Tuchel. Pocch I’m not a fan of.

Not my first choice, by any stretch, but if I had to put a tenner on it, I’d bet that Graham Potter will get the job.

RE: Euro 2024 Qualifiers & Tournament
I have been reflecting quietly and privately on Gareth Southgate during the course of this tournament. My ultimate conclusion formed is quite coincidental in terms of one word.
Service. Keir Starmer has talked a lot about wanting to govern as a matter of public service.

In his own reserved, intelligent and unassuming style I take the view Southgate has dedicated his career to service of clubs and country in a field of work he so passionately enjoys so much.
Service as a player, a captain and most recently as a manager.
He is no prima donna.
Not self interested, self obsessed, self righteous or in any way disingenuous.
He represents the very best in humanity with his dignity, his honesty, his candour and his eloquence. Amongst all the debate about his football philosophy stands a major tournament record better than nearly all his predecessors albeit with no trophy to show for it.

Progress was made during his tenure.
He forged a real connection with fans in the early years of his stewardship of the England side.
As results created hope they also created pressure to ultimately win trophies in a certain style.
Although he and his players may have fallen short of the expectation of some there can be no doubt as to his commitment, his loyalty or the nobility of his intentions.
He genuinely did his utmost in a spirit of service.
And in that same spirit of service he knew the right time to exit stage left and pass on the torch.
Not so he could say 'That will show you all for slagging me off' or 'Beat that for a record suckers'.
No hint of any of that.
He said goodbye in the same spirit of dignified service that he took the role with in the first place.

That is most admirable and leaves a powerful human legacy behind let alone a football one. I thank him and wish him well for the future.

Rooney leaving Plymouth after not even managing a game yet , can't see that.

^^ Nicely put as always Snooks, but do you think Gareth left through the North or the South gate.

Guardiola for me so he can lift the morale with his Pep talks.

I'd like to see Eddie Howe but the comp they would have to pay Newcastle probably would rule him out.
If it's going to be foreign, then you'd have to look at someonw with the same kind of mindset, man-management skills as Klopp, but Klopp I think has already ruled out international management.

If iti's NOT Potter or Howe, then probably it more likely HAS to be Bielsa or maybe Tuchel but certainly to have Wiegman as an interim would be too much on her plate. but If they could tempt Emma Hayes back and pair her with Wiegman then that interim idea might look a bit more of a better way to run the team until a far permanent solution is found. But I would think they will go with Potter.

The other thing i'd like to see is the FA put a manager in place who can really take England further and make the team winners. There's still a lot to England that needs to shine.

The position of England manager will always be a poison chalice. On the one side, you have the media waiting to build you up or knock you down and on the other side you have fans with somewhat unrealistic expectations.

People who think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do.

It has always been something of a mythical poison chalice, I think an added quality now needed is a very thibk skin to handle the shit coming your way whatever happens, but I feel there has to be some responsibiliy taken within the four walls of the FA too for the performances.

RE: Euro 2024 Qualifiers & Tournament
I was just thinking today about the appropriateness of Southgate’s timing.

The question asked of any England manager is: can you win a major tournament? Obviously, the answer, in hindsight, is ‘no’. But how did I feel after every tournament he led?

1. Russia 2018. Against all expectations, he reaches a semi-final. Relatively easy run and they lost to every ‘big’ team they faced. But compared to recent history and where we were when he started, a big step up. Absolutely no doubt in my mind that he should stay on.

2. Euro 2021. Goes one step further to a major tournament final, defeating some decent teams along the way, and only losing on penalties. Still forward progression. No doubt that he should stay.

3. Qatar 2022. Drops out at quarter final in a game I think England could have (should have?) won. A step backward. There is now some doubt about whether Gareth can do it. But based on recent history, he has done enough to get the benefit of the doubt.

4. Euro 2024. Scrapes through to a final, riding his luck with last minute goals and penalty shootouts. Loses handily to a far superior Spain. It’s a final, but there is still some doubt that he can take it all the way. And he’s already used up his ‘benefit of the doubt’. Time to go.

To his credit, Southgate knew this too and walked out with head (rightly) held high.

Arise Sir Gareth…
