Biden has withdrawn from the race. They may stand a chance of beating Trump now... unless they pick Kamala Harris as the nominee

One place in US politics you don't want to find yourself in is the opposite corner to Nancy Pelosi, once she turned, the game was up

My money is it will be Harris, Biden put together a winning coalition in 2020 & as the VP on that ticket that leaves her as best placed to pick up the gauntlet, other Dems like Newsom, Whitmer, Beshar aren't household names nationwide like she is & little time for voters to get to know them

As the VP on the ticket she will have access to the Biden campaigns finances, she is a strong voice on the issue of abortion & for a party that relies so heavily on black voters circumventing the first black woman VP when there is a long established precedent in US politics for the VP becoming the next presidential nominee would be a very bad look at a time when they need to get those voters to turn up

The biggest concern about anti Trumpers was Biden's age & his ability to serve, with him gone so is the campaign's biggest weakness

Harris has to stay on the ticket if they want to hold onto the funding they've raised already. So it'll be her with someone else, the only question is who runs for which job.

^ I disagree about Harris. She's a bad candidate, Hillary 2.0. She was on the winning ticket, but she inspires no confidence. They need someone with some personality. Harris got destroyed by a nobody, Tulsi Gabbard, in the 2020 debates, she doesn't have it in her to beat Trump.

I think the money issue is the biggest advantage for Harris — and it could be decisive for the nomination. She has Biden’s endorsement and she has had a formidable career.

How effective she’d be in campaigning against Trump is another matter. She flamed out pretty badly in the 2020 primaries and never really recovered from a couple of bad debates.

And I worry about the horrible forces that could be unleashed in a 2024 campaign featuring a black woman versus Trump. It could make the whole “birther” conspiracy seem quaint and jolly.

Will be Harris and Buttiteg as her VP Black woman and Gay VP be even sweeter when they dump trump
