1.1 Good grief.
Frank Skinner and Joan Bakewell take 8 painters to Lyme Park to paint Lyme Hall (on canvas); also 50 wild card painters join in with a slim chance of making the semi-finals. The 3 finalists all deserved to win, never mind just progress. The judges ironically picked the one that was under-finished in the time, and looked like the dust jacket for a book about a haunted house.

1.2 To Trelissick House in Cornwall, and I began to get more into this. They still find someone to pick their favourite, and that person made the final shortlist but didn't win. A couple of gimmicky artists had mixed results. The rough weather meant the wild cards (with no handy shelters) got a rough time and with little reward except to be part of the day.

Helpfully for the BBC's political dept, Olly had a Latvian story to work through, and his mother's side of the family were entirely shut out.
He used "insane" a lot, like a southern match to Paddy McGuinness, though he did slip in "mind-blowing" once.

Alec Guinness: A Class Act
A lengthy doc, somewhat similar to the O'Toole/Harris ones I've seen recently. A lively cast of contributors with Jeremy Irons, Tom Courtenay, Sian Phillips, Michael Jayston, Madeline Smith (oh yes), and many more. He was a complex person off screen, but tremendous on it.
