Had a feeling last night, Trump would win.
Why did it happen - Harris attacked Trump too much and not enough about policy on economy, immigration etc. Misinformation/Elon Musk played a huge part and also maybe the US just aren't ready for a women president.
The misinformation was huge. I had co workers telling more about all the shit they read online or heard in podcasts like it's the truth.
When Joe Rogan is your source of "truth", you're just totally lost
They just don't care about Womens/Trans/Gay/Minority Rights. Foreign matters are also not a concern
They care about their wallet and the pursuit of preserving what's in there
Give them less, they will pay more

You probably still would have got the same result but by a larger majority which would have been alarming.
The US system is so annoying, how can 7 states basically dictate who wins...
The invention of modern democracy in America had a touch of genius about it. The Electoral College made perfect sense at the time.
When news travels at the speed of horse & buggy, how could a voter in South Carolina possibly know the character and platform of a candidate from Massachusetts? So he voted for a local elector who would vote on his behalf. Genius.
Only problem is that news today travels at the speed of light. So the whole thing seems archaic and upside down.
But history counts.
We are still enshrining the “right to bear arms” because you never know when British redcoats will appear on the horizon to take their colonies back!
Back to the present … hopefully this huge political realignment will quell the harmful liberal instinct to wallow in pointless impeachments and investigations and AOC drama.
Let the man govern, go back to the drawing board, and figure out a way to win four years from now.

RE: US Election & Presidency
And so it begins, Handmaid's Purge Idiocracy incoming. I fear for those that aren't straight, aren't white, aren't male, aren't Christian (or Jewish) and aren't wealthy that live in America. We should be worried about what is about to happen and all of the knock on effects around the world that it leads to. We rely on America too much.
Our world, I fear, is heading towards another global war, it may not be soon, but at some point the sheer amount of hate that we're seeing is going to bubble over, and if the people in charge at the time aren't the right people, then we are all in trouble. Even now, Putin may nuke Ukraine if Trump pulls America out of NATO and Israel may completely flatten Gaza. It's not like they have been holding back with Biden in charge, so with Trump, who knows how far Russian and Israel will go.
I am concerned. Unchecked power isn't something anyone should have.
