I think the danger with these guys is that they approach the problem through an ideological lens that “more government” is expensive, inefficient, unnecessary and bad. So they could liberally swing the axe, laying people off and shutting down departments without any real comprehension or curiosity about what they actually do.

In his book, The Fifth Risk, Michael Lewis famously used the example of the Department of Energy. In his first term, Trump’s appointees targeted this department for promoting renewable energy, restricting fossil fuels and fracking, and for generally being “woke” climate conscious snowflakes. They had to be reined back from wreaking havoc on the department which is ALSO responsible for managing the country’s nuclear stockpile!

Who knows what will happen this time to the departments of Energy, Health, Education and Trade when these so-called “efficiency” czars get their grubby paws on them.
