US Election & Presidency

It's long but it's a good deep dive into The Democrats failure and goes by quickly. People who watch CNN will probably recognise Longwell as an anti Trump Republican who runs focus groups, she is joined by NYT journalist & host of The Run up podcast, an episode of which i posted earlier, Astead Herndon. They provide their analysis along with feed back from voters, many of whom were Dems who cast for Trump, for the first time this year.

At the mo in the US, lots of peeps are going along the theme of Elon Musk as "president" and Donald Trump as "vice president even including Rep members!
Not sure if it will happen but them two falling out would be so interesting to see.

^ As interesting as it is inevitable. Those two massive egos simply wont be able to co-exist for lomg once the proactive decisions of true consequence have to be made.

It's going to be a very long four years. The lack of governmental experience in Trump's picks and the entirely personal agendas he'll be giving them will light many, many, fires - affecting most everyone at some point... Sychophancy only takes you so far and when push comes to shove Trump will dispose of 'loyalists' as quickly as he did with the more traditional picks of his first term. To someone like him, loyalty is something to be demanded not reciprocated. And fhen what? The long road to disillusionment for the hoodwinked that voted for him? Or is Trump going to be very, very, lucky? Again! Slick people of money and influence often seem blessed in that way (no matter how dumb they are in reality). It helps them create an allure of success that spins into more oppotunities of the same. 60 years of that grift led the orange man all the way to a two-term presidency.

Not everyone’s cup of tea, and I personally find him a bit too arrogant for my taste, but — nonetheless — Anthony Scaramucci has an interesting take on the Trump / Musk relationship.

He tells of General Mike Pompeo, Trump’s second Secretary of State from his previous administration. Pompeo reportedly told Scaramucci that if Trump ever started referring to him as “President Pompeo”, then that was when he’d book a trip to the Antarctic to reinforce diplomatic relations with the penguins.

The implication was clear. Trump was sending a message: … You’re getting more and better press than me! … So make yourself scarce!

I can’t imagine Musk having the same sense of self-preservation. So it likely is just a matter of time before the bromance between them degenerates.

^If that was to ever happen, I can see the UFC promoting it!! (Given how often Trump attends UFC shows!).

As for Lord Mandelson being US Ambassador, I would think he probably isn't a bad choice given what positions he has held in the past, & I would imagine He probably might talk somr sense into Trump when things aren't going well.
