What TV show did you last watch?

Look at Life: Living on a Volcano
A short look (in 1967) at Ascension Island, which seemed to be important to the BBC, and the US Army, and the Space race. No mention of the Falklands, either.

Global Public Square
FZ starts the year much as he ended the old one, with wittering about foreign policy. His opening essay on 2024's elections showing the decline of progressive politics makes an accidental case to show that Labour aren't progressive (though he's too gleeful to make this overt).

The Great Hokkaido Watershed Traverse
2024 was a year I got into NHK World docs. This one centres on Nomura Ryota, an affable 27 year old trying to become the first person to cross Hokkaido from Cape Soya in the North to Cape Erimo in the South. Despite breaking one of his walking poles, and later finding supplies eaten by mice, he manages to complete the trek in just over 2 months of high altitudes, staggering scenery, and often idiotically perilous tracks.

10 - Scone
Adam returns to Scawtland to try tattie scones & a "Full Scawtish", haggis-neaps-n-tatties, a sausage casserole and shortbread for afters. Yet despite being in Perth, he didn't bother with Dundee cake.

An entertaining series overall, hopefully he'll have enough viewers to justify a 2nd series. He turns 50 tomorrow, apparently

He's at it again. Here he tried pie & mash, prawn curry, some kind of rib-eye dish and finally some haute cuisine nonsense. Not all at once, mercifully. He was less pleased about rollmops.

Late Night Line-Up
A revised repeat from 1968, as Joan Bakewell gets 25 minutes to talk to legendary French artist Marcel Duchamp, over 50 years into his career. I was amused by the backdrop, with the word Dada written half a dozen times in different ways, reminiscent of the famous Doors performance on the Ed Sullivan show.

3/20 Adebanji Alade was impressive at trees in his Landscape turn, so showed how one could copy him. Lots of layers is part of the unsurprising answer, but the results spoke for themselves.
4/20 Previous Portrait winner Morag Caister had a live model to show how to do Miniatures.

5/20 Fujiko Rose apparently won a Landscape series I haven't got to seeing yet. Her show focused on use of inks rather than paints, working on a B&W photo of some hillside with a big branch framing it.
6/20 Gareth Reid was a former Portrait winner, and he used charcoals to render a B&W pic of some old bloke's face. Very competently, too.

Arnhem: A Bridge Too Far - The True Story
As I recall of the film, not a whole lot was massively changed, simply through such a surplus of material. Still, worth seeing again in the modern day (well, 2001), and with many survivors of the catastrophic week's events.
