Saw the Mail headline about Gwynne gettting the sack as Health Minister while getting milk.
When Are these Minsiters/MP's realise that if they post something or say something like he said (which quite frankly as Health Minister is a disgusting comment by anyone in that position) about a generation that fought hard for this country in darker times and people who have workrd hard to enjoy a peaceful retirement after lifetime's hard graft he deserved to be sacked
To me, that shows up completely : A) how incompetent people can become when they get into a position of Government offfice or as ordinary MP's and think they can say what they like and think they can get away with it. I've news for you Mr Gwynne - It doesn't take long for social Media & press to pick up on any public comment you make & can make life very uncomfortable for you till your position becomes untenable.
AND -
B) We all thought Labour couldn't be any worse than the Tories. I have to say in the six months since winning I have to say we still have to put up with the same old BS from Westminster and Labour have outdone them in record time in terms broken promises!
The trouble is - WE probably will give them a right kicking in May in the local elections taking place this year but to even damage them it would have to be one of the worst defeats any sittting Government would have had in a generation.
And I would think the chances of Starmer's resignation will only happen if there are enough backbench Labour MP's who will suddenly see Starmer for what he is and either: A) vote against the Govt in several key votes, which could lead to a no confidence vote - and B) then mount a challenge or defect to other parties to weaken his position and majority (which of either, I doubt will happen).
Even then I reckon the only other way out is for us to force Charlie's hand and he calls Starmer to the Palace and exercises his right to dissolve Parliament. I know it would cause a constitutional crisis but would it be worth it?
Then our way forward is voting in coalition governments for a short period of time that forces all the MP's to work together as one to get us out of this mess. I think having one party in Government is no longer the way forward. If we want a one party in power they should be in power but not with the sizeable majority like Starmer has or any Goverment of the past 30 years. Hung Parliaments may seem a bad thing in one way but I think it could be the best option fpr us on the whole - in having a competent hard working Government in power sharing that for ONCE will listen to it's people and we are given the final right to say yes or no in some kind of referendum on key policies.
I will admit it will probably take a huge scandal and likely a very very long list of key vote defeats in the House to even force a no confidence vote in such s short space of time.
