Eagles 24 - 0 Chiefs (2nd Quarter)
This how I dreamt of how the Eagles could win, get a lead & then control the clock in the 2nd half. There's a reason why no team has managed to threepeat in the Super Bowl it's tough.
Chiefs have manged 23 yard of offence & only one 1st down, 0/6 on 3rd downs & have punted 5 times. Mahomes has thrown 2 interceptions & been sacked 3 tomes.

Shut out gone but Mahomes fails to convert a two point conversion in the 3rd Quarter.

Have to say the Eagles have just shown why they were probably the best defence in the regular season.

Mahomes will be back I am sure but this is one that's not going back to Kansas.

40-22 as Mahomes scores 2 TD's in 4th but with just over a minute left, but the first half shut out probably was the key to the Eagles victory

The manner of the defeat is going to hurt Mahomes for a while. I certainly do agree it's tough trying to do - a threepeat probably is only matched in sporting terms i'd say in training a Triple Crown winner.

Is it possible this Chiefs team, will undergo a slight rebuild after? I just wonder how many players are over 30 years and possibly may hasve played in their last (or only SB), and certainly do feel they will almos certainly rebuild around Mahomes for sure.

I'd say if anything I don't think many envisaged the margin in the scoreline to be that big, I would not be surprised if many had a much closer scoreline in mind than what it actually was. Grantd Chiefs outscored in 4th qtr but Mahomes must hsve known it was too litttle too late, had they had points on the board by half time, I think they would have looked to beeen more explosive at the start of the 3rd, I expect many pretty much thought it was game over then. I feel the Eagles probably felt the pace hurt in the 4th and they took their foot of the gas a little, and probably got caught napping.

Can they defend it like the Chiefs? If they can bolster the squad in the draft and shore up the coverage in both defense and Offense I think they could be pretty hard to beat next season.

Hurts was named the MVP, which almost always goes to a QB, 17/22 221 yards 2 TD's 1INT & 11 carries for 72 yards & 1 TD. The fact that the Chiefs had no other option but to put men in the box to contain Barkley who had an uninspiring 25 carriers for 57 yards with a 2.3 average, but allowed Hurts to find his receivers as the threat for Barkley to break one was always there & he still had the most receptions with 6-40, falling just short of a combined 100 yard game.
The real MVP was the Eagles O-Line led by Josh Sweat who had 2.5 sacks with 6 in total as a group, Mahomes fumbled twice, one of which was recovered by the Eagles, & the constant pressure brought about 2 interceptions.
It was late in the 3rd before the Chiefs found the End Zone, but a comeback was never realistic. Two further late TD's were meaningless with the game already over, & ending with Hurts, Barkley & other starters watching from the side line with the back-ups running the clock down.
The Eagles only had to punt twice & when other drives stalled Jake Elliot was a perfect 4/4 despite getting pushed back by penalties on 2 occasions.
Rookie cornerback/punt returner Cooper DeJean had a great 22nd birthday with a pick six, he was joined in the after game celebrations by Barkley who tuned 28 on the day, as the pair shared some cake.

^ Where would you put this Eagles team in terms of SB performance? you think it can only get better over the next few years? I think if did end up as a shut out, I certainly would think it would have gone down as one the most dominant and awe inspiring SB performances of the last few years, but even so, I think they knew they had to get to chiefs early on and force pressure onto Mahomes, which they did.

But for a blow out it's cetainly one we didn't expect to happen.

Surprised by the nature & margin of victory, but we should've be surprised by an Eagles team who possess such a strong all round roster, arguably the most talented & complete in the NFL.

Mahomes is one of the most elusive QB's, but his O-Line failed to protect him consistently to piece together any meaningful drives. The Chiefs play a conservative style of offense & the Eagles had the perfect gameplan to stop it.

NGS had Mahones pressured 16 times, with 6 sacks on 42 drop-backs, all achieved by a front 4 with the Chiefs often employing 7 men in protection & not a single blitz.
On all but 2 on the Chiefs offensive plays the Eagles employed a zone defence.

Well after all the narrow wins finally caught up with the chiefs yet wasn't expecting the eagles to fly out of sight at one point I honestly thought the chiefs would be whitewashed

Now we've all had time to digest and analyze the SB result where would we rank the Chiefs team on the All Time Great Teams List? I would say they are certainly somewhere I would say outside the top 10. IMO the teams in the top 10 All time Great Teams List are there simply of what they acheived. Had the Chiefs won, I reckon they would have been probably be sitting comfortably in the top 5. They're still a great team purely on their back to back wins but probably not enough to get into the top 10 All Time List.

And the other thing? I very much doubt we will ever see another 'perfect season' in the NFL in our lifetime. Several teams have gone close, but to acheive it, it's going to take something very very special to match what Miami '72 did. That 72 Dolphins team pretty much did it the hard way when their regular QB that season Bob Griese broke his ankle in Week 5 and backup QB Earl Morrall took over for the rest of the regular season/playoffs. Griese however, did play the 2nd Half of SB V11 against Washington.

I would say Mahomes' own reputation probably also took a hit, but I don't think it was enough of a hit to diminish of what he can personally achieve over the 2-3 years possibly, and staying injury free will be a big factor in that.
