Russian Invasion Of Ukraine

I would think any talks involving Trump will see Ukraine fucked over a barrel big time. There's no way in hell Putin would even return the territory gained and after what the US Secretary of state yesterday said I don't think the talks would work in Ukraine's favour.

The fact that so far it's been Trump and Putin talking, without Ukraine or the EU being involved, means it's likely not going to be good at all for Ukraine.
This is all so that Trump can claim to the people that support him that he's some great deal making peace bringer and try to claim a Nobel peace prize. In reality, I expect at some point Putin will try to claim further Ukrainian territory and not worry about America stopping him. I don't expect lasting peace, so this could actually go very wrong

Oh and America have said that Ukraine shouldn't expect its territory back, or to join NATO, they've also said they don't want any part in peacekeeping. How kind of them.
Trump at one point also said something about them want access to Ukrainian resources for helping, but his numbers were over inflated, so it's lose lose for Ukraine at the moment. This is what happens when a country with too much power elects a leader that can't be trusted to follow even his own laws.

Trump's America is gonna break lots of things, leaving China to pick up the pieces. Fun times ahead, although hopefully not another global war.

You can bet Putin will push Trump as far as he can, & I think there are times when I think Trump probably underestimates Putin's ruthlessness and is probably about to find that out. When you deal with the Russian bear - expect to be chewed up and spat back out with little to show for it.
We in Western Europe have seen how the Russian bear works - in various ways over the centuries - and for the greater part of it, it's one not to be trusted. The only time the bear seeemed more than likely to be trusted by the West, was under Gorbachev.

Putin will agree to it for about a month then will continue to push on with the war and leave any Trump deal in tatters. If there is one megalomaniac in this world - it's not the one sitting in the White House - but the one in the Kremlin.

I've tried to post my feelings on this latest American betrayal several times but it keeps ending in a torrent of swear words.

The reactor's shield was hit last night in a Russian drone attack.

I think Zelensky knows deep down trusting Trump to do the right is one thing is only going to end up being a hard lesson.

As for Chernobyl, I just wonder if those soldiers fighting around there realise what damage they are doing to themselves by being there.

^There are no Soldiers fighting anywhere near the plant. It was captured by the Russians on 24 April 2022 and liberated by the Ukrainians 2 months later.

When the Russians were occupying the area, the Staff at the Power Plant, who were efficitely prisoners there, warned them to stay out of certain areas and not to disturb the soil by digging trenches. The Russians ignored this and when they left, some of them were showing signs of Radiation Sickness.

Europe Summit on Ukraine takes place this afternoon.

While I would welcome a deal to end the war, I think extreme caution has to be applied whereby having a EU peacekeeping force is concerned, simply because I fear this where any deal struck could eventually go tits up.

Even if a deal is struck could we even really trust Russia to keep it's side of the bargain where any multinational European peacekeeping is concerned, as I feel we could end up sleep - walking into a carefully planned trap by Putin and that any troops stationed by UK could potentially become hostages if Putin tries to gain more ground in a deal without firing another shot?
