6.3 To Hackney for the West Reservoir, where the surrealist wins, charmingly enough.
LAotY 2021
6.4 Back to Chartwell Gardens for more Churchill worship, and more hot weather. I didn't think much to the shortlist, let alone the winner.

The Daily Show w/Jon Stewart
Most notable for a stunt where Jon iratedly smashed a mug and cut himself. He seemed to act like he'd never cut himself before, or knew any good medical protocol for dealing with it (I saw on YT that First Aid put it right, but still...)

Angela Rippon Reporting... the Soap Opera Business
From 1980, so Phil Redmond is pushing forgotten effort Together and hasn't started on Brookside, locals around Manchester think Corrie isn't realistic, the Archers and bloody Crossroads get much attention whilst Emmerdale Farm gets nowt, and Clive James and Terry Wogan are their familiar selves.

Simon Schama's Story of Us
1/3 Who are We Now?
His new series on culture tells us he'll be 80 this year. He looks back to the Festival of Britain, the Festival of Light, and the 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony.

LAotY 2021
6.5 Back to West Wycombe House on a duller day than most this series, but with a fair result in the end.

7 - Tottenham Hotspur
Adam's own club, and he enjoyed lamb ravioli, medovik honey cake, with moi moi and kuli kuli chicken to round it off.

8 - Manchester United
Humble pie... no, not really. Instead, a seafood boil, the honey butter ring, and celeriac remoulade on beef smorebrod. He was somewhat polite about eccles cakes (probably not a nod to Chris "Man U fan" Eccleston).

2/3 Whose Britain is it Anyway?
How Ian Fleming used Suez to launch James Bond, the upheavals of Windrush, the politicking of Enoch Powell, the hopes of 2Tone, and the works of Hanif Kureishi.

LAotY 2021
6.6. Back for the final heat to West Reservoir, now described as being in Stoke Newington rather than Hackney. A very hot day leads to 6 good paintings.

3/3 Our Contested Land
A look at eco-war, with the poetry of Phil Larkin and Seamus Heaney, and the gardening of Derek Jarman.

On the whole, an intriguing and at times surprising series, where the tiresome celeb guests like Jarvis Cocker and Bono were there to try and plug other people instead of themselves.
