7.1 To the Eden Project in Cornwall on a sunny day, to paint the Biomes. The shortlist is pretty good, even if the winner is probably the least interesting of the three.
LAotY 2022
7.2 To the grounds of Compton Verney on a dull day improved by a short shower. One woman uses old ties and a sewing machine to create her impressive result, and is rewarded with a spot in the shortlist. But the winner is a more ordinary painter.

As the show ends at the end of the month, Stephen Sackur intro'd a selection of clips from the first 10 years, including such luminaries as Nelson Mandela, Nina Simone, Robin Williams and, inevitably, Donald "yes, I do believe in getting even" Trump. Tim Sebastian did most of the work, and he seemed just as good as Sackur.
HARDtalk: On The Road
Sackur again, this time doing all the work, visiting Greenland, Yemen, Colombia, Zimbabwe and more.

The Daily Show w/Jon Stewart
Belatedly caught up from last week, Jon berates the Democrats for being bloody useless, then talks to a Democrat senator to see if there was any light at the end of the tunnel (or indeed, any end).

7.3 Whitstable Harbour offers yet another seaside setting, and a mix of disappointments and a few high achievers (the shortlist proves good, and an amateur gets the win for once).

Real Time w/Bill Maher
His chat with Dana Carvey was worthwhile, but his "serious" talk to Ezra Klein and Andrew Sullivan was often pretty dire.

The Daily Show w/Jon Stewart
After a long rant about free speech, his chat with Paul Rudd was clearly the work of two old friends. He didn't do his Bernie Sanders impression this week, perhaps because it sounds a lot like Jackie Mason.

Another kind-of special, with John looking at the early impact of Trump II, including another historical round-up ending, and the delusion that because other 2nd term Presidents have died on their arse, then Trump will probably get boshed in the midterms. As if the world will be OK until then...
UW w/JS
End of another series (or off for an Easter break). Jeremy Bowen comes to John's cubbyhole workspace to discuss peace prospects in Gaza and Ukraine, whilst John separately discusses the Congo situation and finally a bit on Indonesia, which otherwise wouldn't get a mention (and probably won't until the next time he feels like it).

HARDtalk
Possibly the last compilation, mostly from Sackur, meeting such rogues as Hugo Chavez, Nancy Pelosi, Boris Johnson and Alexey Navalny.

I've often enjoyed watching these shows, and I expect the BBC will replace it with a similar format.

7.4 Back to the Eden Project, but looking at the gardens rather than the Biomes. This results in some desperately weird attempts to avoid an ordinary painting, including this week's gimmick contestant who rips up old Women's Weeklys (and does make the shortlist, fair play). Rarely have I felt the judges would have been most happy not to have a winner at all.
