RE: FA Cup
As an outsider (who essentially doesn't care about top-flight football & it's 'new money'), Liverpool have been dull for the longest time. Benitez may have been hailed as a genius, but the great triumph he 'masterminded' was a 3-0 halftime defeat. His tactical brilliance lead to that. It was simply shit or bust from there on, combined with total capitulation from Milan. Apart from the obvious ones; Torres, who was no secret to anyone & a couple of others, his signings are p*ss poor. Dossena - what the hell was that about? Benitez doesn't ever appear to have grasped English football or its competitions. What's your best back-four Raffa? No, you don't have a clue son, do you?
As for Utd. After that disgraceful FA Cup withdrawl a few years ago, they should have been banned from the competition for 5 years anyway, though being humbled by lower league sides is equally pleasurable.
I guess that in most cases, the term 'I'm a Man Utd fan' or 'Liverpool fan' describes someone who's possibly attended a live game or 2, then again possibly not, doesn't have any particular reason to follow them (geographical or otherwise) and wouldn't give a damn about them if they were situated 17th in Division 2. You know who you are, or sadly perhaps you don't. You are to football, what Coldplay fans are to music - soulless, unimaginative & dull. I accept that there are 50 or 60,000 genuine ones for each of the aforementioned, though you'll all claim to be one of those.
Not defending Chelsea either. I can remember the days when they were getting 12,000 for home matches. They just don't annoy as much as the other 2.
Wenger is the only guy that I really rate now. He makes players from nothing, on a comparative budget + his occasional outbursts can be quite camp.
On the rotation issue; Chelsea are probably the only side that can do it & genuinely still field a top-level team...oh & Wolves who can field 2 equally crap sides.
Anyone I haven't offended??
Actually, the Champions Leage has diminished the Premier League (comparatively speaking), Premier League has debased the FA Cup and so on. The bread & butter (38 games) should get the most respect and the FA Cup should always be a joy, but money has screwed with all that.
