TNA Genesis to Air Live Online for UK Fans at a Cost
- TNA President Dixie Carter has confirmed in an Interview with British Newspaper The Daily Star that TNA Genesis will air live on tnappv.com at the cost of £10.50 (equivalent to $17.10) . TNA Fans have also noted that their Sky Guide does not make any mention of TNA Genesis on Wednesday (the usual PPV airing in the UK). This could mean there will be no future TV broadcast of PPV's. Dixie Carter had the following to say to the Daily Star :

“You’ll see more wrestling and less talk.

“We’ll let the action propel those storylines versus the talk. The fans will be the ones who win.”

And of Monday’s bumper show, she said: “Thank you, thank you for helping TNA set record ratings in every way last night. We ALL won.”

This will be great news for many in the UK who normally receive the TNA PPV's on the Wednesday following the Sunday PPV. To compare WWE PPV's air live in the UK on Sky Sports and Sky Box office however UK fans pay for half of them at the cost of around £14.95 (equivalent to $24.36) while the other half a free. The downside however is UK fans are used to many free PPV's from WWE and if TNA intend to charge for every PPV they could see a dent in the number of UK buy

this is a bad move for tna as they will lose lots of viewers to their ppv's including me as i cant buy them now as i dont have a credit/debit card. they should do what wwe do and have some free to sky subscribers

I agree with Josh, there are other website that will still stream it. it does suck for people that don't know where to get it streamed and they will probably lose some fans because of it. it doesn't really matter to me that much, as I usually have the show on my Hardrive a day after it's live anyway Wink

Some of us don't give a sh*t about watching internet wrestling. I want it on my TV; not the microwave, dishwasher, toaster or any other household appliance. I wouldn't watch it for free on my PC...no in fact, I wouldn't watch it on my PC even if you paid me. There you go. That's old school.

Come to think of it, if TNA wasn't 'free', regardless of the fact that I've followed it from 'Day 1' in 2002, I could now really care less about it, other than on a 'there's nothing better on...& you may get one worthwhile match per month' scenario.

They'd probably do better just adding say £2/month to the Bravo package. Can't quite back that up with solid reasoning at the moment, but I know what I mean.

TNA have announced a new PPV deal for the UK and Ireland, with their huge monthly events broadcast on the Extreme Sports Channel. The shows will air at 10pm on the Friday following the live US transmission, starting with the company's Destination X supercard on March 26. Extreme Sports can be found on Sky Digital channel 419 and Virgin Media channel 527. It is free as part of Sky's News & Events Pack or Virgin's L offering. Fans in Ireland can get it on UPC channel 422, which is included in the Select package.

The channel will also start airing TNA Xplosion, a one-hour show of highlights and new matches, on Fridays at 9pm, also from March 26. TNA's flagship weekly TV show Impact will stay in its current home of Bravo, where it is shown every Saturday night at 9pm. The group, whose stars include Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Kurt Angle and world champion AJ Styles also renewed their agreement with BT Vision, who will show replays of the monthly PPVs and Impact.

TNA president Dixie Carter said: "The United Kingdom has become a battleground for professional wrestling fans as TNA's ratings have continued to climb. This is another important moment for TNA and is another step to become the number one professional wrestling company in the world by giving our fans what they want; more TNA programming."

Extreme Sports Channel general manager Tim MacMullen added: "This is shaping up to be an amazing year for our viewers in the UK. Adding TNA's spectacular programming to our line up of the world's best action sports and high-adrenalin entertainment shows is a great way to kick off our 11th year on air."
